The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship has never had higher profile champions than it does right now. Sasha Banks and Bayley, the Women's Champions of Raw and SmackDown respectively, won the titles two months ago on SmackDown.

Since then, they've used the belts to appear on all three WWE brands, replacing Charlotte as the focal point of women's wrestling in WWE. While the belts have never been held by more important champions, the division as a whole is still struggling to establish itself -- but a newly reunited team might finally change that.

Ruby Riott and Liv Morgan reunited on Raw for the first time since the break up of the Riott Squad. After weeks of feuding with the Iiconics, including a brief partnership with Bianca Belair, Riott finally reconciled with her old Riott Squad stablemate. The reunion happened on the Kevin Owens Show.

Owens facilitated the reunion because of his own past spent betraying his friends to further his career. He didn't want to see Riott make the same mistake. She and Morgan had been at odds since Riott returned from a lengthy injury in February. Upon her return, Riott feigned a happy reunion with Morgan before attacking her.

Drawing Sarah Logan, the third former member of the Squad, into the feud created some personal issues for the Women's Elimination Chamber match -- although the former Riott Squad members didn't end up contributing much to the match, which wound up being dominated by Shayna Baszler. Morgan would win all of the singles matches between the two former teammates, which were the only highlights of an aimless few months for her.

Riott, in the middle of a losing streak of her own, tried to speak to Morgan backstage after she lost a match to Natalya. Morgan blew her off, in what turned out to be her last appearance on WWE television for over a month.

Once Riott finally had Morgan's attention on the KO Show, she gave her a heartfelt apology for betraying her. Riott explained that she couldn't handle all of the changes that had happened to Morgan during her absence and she had lashed out at her. Riott asked Morgan to give her a second chance as a partner and re-form the Riott Squad.

Morgan seemed genuinely moved by Riott's apology, but before she could respond, the Iiconics interrupted. If there was ever a team designed to unite uneasy allies against a common foe, it's WWE's Aussie mean girls. After Kevin Owens acknowledged technical difficulties by asking for the Iiconics' mics to get cut off, they both slapped him, and the former Squad members came to his aid.

Riott and Morgan won the ensuing match with a roll up on Billie Kay. The Iiconics beat her down post-match, but Riott came to her aid, saving Morgan from an attempted Iiconics double team move. The newly reunited Riott Squad wound up hitting one of their own on Kay before heading backstage together.

Riott and Morgan are a team once again, although it's unclear whether they'll resurrect the Riott Squad name. There's an immediate story to tell with them rebuilding their trust in each other and dealing with the more cohesive Iiconics. A shot at the Golden Role Models isn't likely to be the next step for the duo, since Sasha and Bayley will have singles belts to defend at SummerSlam.

However, a title match between the two teams does seem inevitable, primarily because of the lack of depth in the women's tag division. Kairi Sane's final appearance for WWE has aired, ending the Kabuki Warriors' run. Another pair of former champions, Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, might be breaking up, as Cross shoved Bliss and walked out on her after a loss to Bayley on SmackDown.

Even if Bliss and Cross stay together, it looks like she'll be too busy to make the tag titles a priority. Cross's outburst left Bliss vulnerable to an attack by "the Fiend" Bray Wyatt, drawing her into Wyatt's feud with Braun Strowman.

Riott and Morgan have more experience tagging with Logan as a trio than they do as a duo. Working with an experienced team like the Iiconics should help them gel as a duo before a feud with the champs, and they should make a good babyface team to counter the established heel teams.

Riott is an experienced worker who made her reputation in the indies and can hold her own with anyone on WWE's roster. Morgan lacks that experience, but she has shown some chops as an underdog. Those attributes, in addition to their reunion story, make them the perfect candidates to end the tag title reign of the Two Woman Power Trip.
