Who Is AEW's Saraya, Formerly Known as Paige?

Saraya-Jade Bevis made her professional wrestling debut in 2005 at the age of 13 under the name Britani Knight. As Britani Knight, Bevis performed throughout the European independent wrestling scene through 2011, at which point she also began performing for Shimmer Women Athletes. In September 2011, Bevis signed a contract with WWE and was assigned to its developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), which would soon be re-branded as NXT.

Bevis made her in-ring debut for FCW in January 2012 under the name Saraya. She wrestled her first televised match for the territory the following month, at which point her ring name was changed to Paige. FCW became NXT later that year, with Paige quickly becoming a fan-favorite as a member of the revamped developmental promotion. In June 2013, Paige defeated Emma in a tournament final to become the inaugural NXT Women's Champion.

Paige's main-roster WWE debut proved to be a history-making one. The night after WrestleMania XXX in 2014, Paige -- still the NXT Women's Champion at the time -- made a surprise appearance on Monday Night Raw. She then quickly defeated AJ Lee in an impromptu match for Lee's WWE Divas Championship. Paige winning the title on her first night as a member of the main roster is often cited as the moment that jump-started a new era for women's wrestling in WWE. Bevis' life and career up until this point were chronicled in the 2019 biopic Fighting with My Family, which was produced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and starred Black Widow's Florence Pugh as Bevis/Paige.

In 2017, Bevis suffered a neck injury that ultimately forced her to retire from in-ring competition the following year. She then shifted into non-wrestling roles for WWE. Her final televised appearance as Paige came in March 2020. In June 2022, Bevis announced that she had officially parted ways with WWE, effective the following month.
