WWE Superstar Nikki Cross debuted a new persona on Monday Night Raw.

Donning flashy blue and gold attire featuring a mask and cape for her Money in the Bank qualifying tag team match, Cross introduced the ThunderDome and the rest of the WWE Universe to her new superhero character. Cross explained on Twitter that her recent winning streak has encouraged her to express herself freely and she hopes the new look motivates others to believe in themselves, too.

"Bringing this to life has given me such joy," she wrote. "The roll I have been on @wwe gave me the boost I need to unveil this to the [world], that everyone has that spark and they can try anything they want to, just listen to your heart. I want to blossom like a butterfly. I want us all to."

Cross, a former two-time WWE Women's Tag Team Champion, explained while she does not have superhero powers, the new outfit brings out some much-needed confidence in her.

"I don't have superpowers, I know I can't fly, I know I don't have super strength," Cross tweeted. "But putting on my mask, my cape, my gauntlets, makes me feel I can try anything. I might fall down. But il [sic] get back up, each and every time. We all will."

Debuting the new persona was not a spur-of-the-moment decision by Cross. Twitter user @RobArtDownie revealed they helped Cross pitch her new gimmick to WWE months ago.

Fans on social media noted that Cross' character resembles Shane Helms' The Hurricane. Helms, a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and current backstage producer, endorsed Cross' new look. Responding to a tweet from Pro Wrestling Illustrated noting that fans initially "guffawed" at Helms when he began his run as The Hurricane, Helms gave Cross words of encouragement.

"Yup," Helms said in agreement. "So did a lot of my friends and peers. But I got it over, so over in fact, that three other talents became derivatives of my character. How often does that happen? And now @NikkiCrossWWE steps up to the plate and I'm gonna support her every step of the way! Fly Nikki Fly!"

Time will tell if Cross can reach the heights of The Hurricane, but she started on a good note Monday. Along with her tag team partner Alexa Bliss, Cross defeated former WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler to qualify for her second Money in the Bank ladder match.

Featuring the annual men's and women's ladder matches, along with a few title bouts, Money in the Bank airs live on Peacock July 18.
