As WWE continues to adapt its on-screen product amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the company has officially announced plans for a very different take on its annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view.

Traditionally, the Money in the Bank ladder match pits several superstars against one another in a free-for-all battle, with the winner being the first one to climb a latter and retrieve the briefcase suspended above the ring -- which can then be redeemed for a shot at a world championship at any time. This year, however, superstars will instead have to climb the corporate ladder in order to get that title shot.

In a release on WWE.com, the promotion detailed the "unique challenge" Money in the Bank competitors have in store for them this year. Both the Men's and Women's Money in the Bank matches will take place at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. Superstars will start the match on the ground floor of the building, with the coveted briefcases "hanging all the way up on the roof of the corporate tower."

The very first Money in the Bank ladder match took place at WrestleMania 21 in 2005. The contest became a a WrestleMania mainstay before moving to its very own eponymous pay-per-view in 2010. A Women's Money in the Bank ladder match was added in the 2017 iteration of the event.
