15 NEW PHONE WHO DIS

John Cena Undertaker meme

Building a Wrestlemania match takes time, work, and plenty of effort. After all, when booking a match on the grandest stage of them all, you need to give fans a reason to get invested in the fight. Or you could just throw out all that build-up and have a man in jorts try to invite an old man to fight for weeks without a response.

Yes, the build to Cena/Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34 was certainly controversial, with plenty of fans applauding the unusual approach.

Still others were vocal in their dislike at building an entire feud around Big Match John monologuing. But leave it to the internet to concoct a reason for Taker's silence: maybe he just didn't like Cena that way? We'd like to think that shortly after Taker didn't answer, Cena responded with a "plz respond" text.

14 THE MAN THAT GRAVITY (AND VINCE) FORGOT

WWE Neville meme

There was a time before 205 Live was a glimmer in Vince McMahon's eye, when cruiserweights were featured on WWE's main roster. Throughout the years, World Wrestling Entertainment has seen plenty of light, agile wrestlers grace the roster, including the Man That Gravity Forgot, Neville. Renowned for his intimidating glare and his breathtaking Red Arrow finishing move, Neville quickly became a fan favorite. Almost as quickly as he rose to popularity, however, he was gone.

Cutting his teeth in NXT before being called up to the main roster, Neville regularly put on spectacular matches, only for his feelings on WWE to sour, leading to the so-called "King Of The Cruiserweights" to bail on the company. Neville's WWE days may be behind him, but fans hold out hope that the capable cruiserweight will return one day.

13 NEVER GOING OVER

WWE Finn Balor Roman Reings meme

For any hardcore wrestling fan, Finn Balor's injury after winning the WWE Universal Title is a great tragedy that rivals the likes of Shakespeare. Here's a guy who fought tooth and nail from Japan to the indies to NXT to make a name for himself, finally achieves his dream of winning the biggest title in the wrestling business, only for a shoulder injury to force Balor to vacate the title. While Finn is now back in action, fans aren't holding their breath for Finn to get another shot at the belt, as a certain Big Dog is making that difficult.

With Roman Reigns the WWE's current golden child, it feels as though Reigns will continue to rule the championship scene, leaving poor Finn (and fans) wondering just when he's going to get a chance to reclaim the title he lost. But with Roman's push showing no signs of stopping, Finn might never get back to that belt. This meme helps fans laugh about Finn's bad luck to help keep from crying.

12 BAY BAY!

WWE Adam Cole meme

There are some chants so ingrained within the lexicon of wrestling fans, so hardwired into their DNA, that you just can't stop yourself from engaging in them. From "You suck!" during Kurt Angle's theme song to "This is awesome" during a great match, these chants are beloved traditions in wrestling fandom. And it's former indie wunderkind turned NXT superstar Adam Cole's famous catchphrase that has entered the pantheon of infamous wrestling chants.

Wrestling fans are never ones to turn down a good chant (or even a bad chant -- looking at you, people who say "What?"). Adam Cole managed to use wrestling fans' love of chants to his benefit, coining the call-and-response of "Adam Cole BAY BAY!" Even the most diehard anti-chant fan will find themselves letting out a "BAY BAY," even if it means getting murdered by a hatchet-wielding maniac.

11 BRRRRR APPLE DOUGH!

WWE John Cena ICU

There are some facets of pro wrestling that transcend the sport and enter into popular culture. The Rock's signature eyebrow raise, Stone Cold's double birds, and, in recent years, just about everything John Cena does have become major talking points in pop culture. Cena's famous theme song was transformed into a meme, and jokes about Cena's "You can't see me" catchphrase soon followed.

Cena's self-proclaimed invisibility has proven ripe for jokes and memes which, just like a wrestler taking a swing at Cena after the first two shoulder tackles, has proven to be impossible to resist. After all, just how far does Cena's commitment to others being unable to see him go? It's a dumb premise, but wrestling fans just can't help but bust a gut over Big Match John keeping kayfabe alive in the hospital.

10 STILL MORE MANIA WINS THAN STING

WWE Nicholas WWE 2K

Wrestlemania can be a divisive event. After all, when the biggest WWE storylines of the year all culminate at the same event, fans set a high bar, expecting every match and pay-off to blow them away. As a result, feelings regarding Wrestlemania 34 have ranged from high praise to deep hatred, but regardless of the feelings on the event as a whole, there was one sentiment that all Mania viewers could relate on: Who the heck is Nicholas?

When Braun Strowman plucked a random child named Nicholas from the audience to serve as his tag partner against The Bar, fans were left scratching their heads. Still, having won the tag team title at the biggest stage of them all, it's only appropriate that Nicholas makes the cover of the next WWE 2k, right?

9 JINDER GOT HINDERED

WWE Jinder Mahal Monsters Inc

To say that opinions on Jinder Mahal are mixed would be generous. Plucked from C-grade mid-card obscurity to win the WWE Championship, the monstrous Maharaja quickly drew complaints over his wrestling and mic skills, leading to the new champ earning as many haters as he had fans. While the WWE universe will likely never agree on Jinder, a UK WWE DVD seemed to suggest Vince and crew didn't hold Jinder in the highest regard.

Taking a cue from Pixar's beloved Monsters Inc., the meme points out that Jinder's mug is hidden behind a rating sticker, leaving only his eyes glaring out. Much like the diminutive Mike Wazowski, Jinder had been covered up after drawing the short straw on his position on the cover. Clearly, whoever designed this cover art didn't get the memo that you should never hinder Jinder.

8 IT'S TOO BAD I'M TOO GOOD

WWE Dolph Ziggler meme

Sometimes in wrestling, you can have the look, you can have the skills, you can have the charisma, and you can still never quite click. Such is the case with the ramen-haired wrestling machine that is Dolph Ziggler. As any WWE fan worth their salt will tell you, Dolph is a phenomenal wrestler with the ability to make any match great. Despite his credentials, Ziggler just can't seem to get the push fans want him to have.

No one seems to quite know why Dolph has remained a mid-carder. Despite reigns with the World Heavyweight Championship and runs with the Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship, Ziggler seems to have settled into a world of losses and ill-advised gimmicks. Still, while Ziggler has publicly stated he's happy with his position within WWE, fans would love to see Zig get another singles push.

7 BROKEN LOOKALIKES

WWE Matt Hardy Jeff Hardy meme

Wrestling has always had an odd relationship with hip-hop. WCW gave the world the rap-hating country music tag team The West Texas Rednecks, who would go on to record a song entitled "Rap Is Cr*p," while WWE would learn to embrace hip-hop, involving big names such as Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross in storylines. While wrestling promotions have long had a tumultuous relationship with rap, only two wrestlers can claim they popularized the trap rap look: Matt and Jeff Hardy.

Yes, with mumbly mouthed trap rappers ruling the rap scene, every up-and-comer with a face tattoo and set of grills is looking to the established players in the scene to figure out how to look. But it would seem that rainbow-haired Tekashi 69 and Post Malone, he of "Congratulations" fame, didn't take their look from the streets; rather, they turned to two wrestlers willing to jump off of just about anything.

6 SUFFERING SUCCOTASH

WWE Roman Reigns meme

Roman Reigns is a divisive figure in the world of wrestling. For every screaming fan of the perpetually wet-haired Samoan, there seems to be five detractors, eager to take any opportunity to rag on Vince's golden child. Regardless of your feelings on Reigns, even the most die-hard fans and haters could agree that while Roman might have the look of a main eventer, he certainly doesn't have the move set.

While the Big Dog's skills within the squared circle have improved over time, his move repertoire has remained someone lacking. Sure, he's got the samoan drop, the apron dropkick, and the ever-reliable Superman Punch and spear, but Reigns' grab bag of moves is definitely on the shallow side. As a result, if you were to look at a complete rundown of Reigns' moves, you might have to get a much closer look.

5 I WANT YOU TO GET THESE HANDS

WWE Braun Strowman meme

What an evolution Braun Strowman has undertaken: starting his career in WWE as a Wyatt Family lackey, Strowman eventually stepped out of Bray's shadow and began his ascent in the singles circuit, establishing himself as WWE's de facto monster. Unlike some monsters that can only be bothered to appear four times a year (cough Brock cough), Braun is there week after week, threatening to give "these hands" to anyone unlucky enough to cross his path.

As over as Braun is right now, The Monster Among Men could likely whip up fans into a veritable army, marching a path of destruction across WWE. Much like Uncle Sam, Braun stares out from this meme, encouraging action, except instead of urging viewers to enlist, Braun's happier using his poster to remind viewers that no one is safe from these hands.

4 HE'S CASHING IN!

WWE Seth Rollins Money In The Bank meme

Ever since the Money In The Bank ladder match debuted in 2005, the MITB tradition has become a beloved WWE staple. Once the famous gold briefcase has been acquired after a grueling match, fans wait with baited breath to see if the inevitable cash in leads to a new WWE champion or heartbreaking defeat. Unfortunately, there is no such shortcut to victory in real life. But what if there was...?

We've all been there: you've got your eyes on somebody, but they are thoroughly spoken for, making it impossible to make a move. But the relationship ends, and the object of your affections is back on the market. Normally, you'd have to slide into the DMs and work your tail off to make it work. But in a perfect world, your relationship would be one golden briefcase away.

3 SOCCER MOM AJ

WWE AJ Styles Meme

AJ Styles is many things: a phenomenal wrestler and a gifted athlete paramount among them. But Styles has never been accused of being the most fashionable guy. After all, this is a guy with a giant tattoo of his own name on his side (at least ostensibly -- they are really the initials of his children, all of whom also have initials of "AJ"). While AJ's phenomenal gloves have become a hot item among the wrestling community, even the most ardent Styles supporter would concede that the wrestler's biggest problem is his "May I speak to the manager?" haircut.

Back in his TNA days, Styles wore his hair short, which looked fine, but was far from memorable. When the Phenomenal One made the jump to WWE, he did so with flowing locks, which made the indie darling stand out on the roster, but the new 'do didn't exactly scream "intimidating wrestler." No one can deny AJ's skills in the ring, but with a haircut that looks like he's supposed to bring the snacks to the pee-wee soccer game this weekend, AJ's look could still use some work.

2 WHY DON'T THEY LIKE HIM?

WWE Roman Reigns Vince Mcmahon meme

At its core, pro wrestling is a spectacle that lives and dies by the fans. It is the fans that decide who to celebrate and who to boo and, by extension, who gets the big matches and who doesn't. Well, in theory anyway. You see, WWE seems to have thrown this ethos right out the window when it comes to Roman Reigns.

WWE CEO Vince McMahon seems to have taken a major shine to former Shield leader Roman Reigns, leading to the wrestler getting pushed as the company's next big name. Problem is, fans have been less than receptive to Reigns, leading to the Big Dog getting showered in boos every match. It's possible Vince and company will heed the boos of the fans and stop pushing Reigns eventually, but for the time being, it seems like Roman is here to stay, whether fans like it or not.

1 NO PUSH FOR YOU

WWE NXT meme

There's no feeling quite like watching a wrestler make a name for themselves on the indie circuit, get signed to WWE, cut their teeth in NXT, and finally make their debut on the main roster. A culmination of a literal rags to riches story, this is a wrestler that has managed to go from wrestling bingo halls to wrestling on the biggest stage of them all. And then nothing happens to them, because they don't have the kind of look Vince McMahon prefers.

It's a tale as old as time: a wrestler proves they have the stuff, only for Vince to cast the talented newbie aside for his latest muscle-bound golden child. Sure, a wrestler manages to overcome backstage drama and make a name for themselves (looking at you, Daniel Bryan), but not every talented come-up is quite as lucky. It's stupid, it's frustrating, and fans can't wait for it to end.
