The July 31 edition of WWE SmackDown saw Sonya Deville rekindle her feud with Mandy Rose, only this time, with a twist. Daddy Deville attacked The Golden Goddess backstage and took a chunk of Mandy's hair with her, possibly setting up a Hair Versus Hair Match at this year's SummerSlam.

If this latest attack leads to Sonya's or Mandy's hair going on the line, this renewed feud may be even more intriguing than ever before. WWE has used Hair Versus Hair Matches in feuds before, and this stipulation should raise the stakes and set up opportunities for some major character development.

One of WWE's most famous Hair Versus Hair Matches occurred at WrestleMania XX involving Molly Holly and Victoria in a Hair versus Title Match. Not only did this stipulation add intrigue to the women's match, fans tuned in to see Molly Holly's unceremoniously shaven scalp. Of course, Molly Holly would lose her match, resulting in her new bald look and her wearing hilariously fake wigs following WrestleMania.

In a similar way that the Hair Versus Title Match raised the stakes during the Molly Holly versus Victoria match, a Hair Versus Hair Match between Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose could do the same for them. Any stipulation would have been beneficial to help extend Mandy and Sonya's feud, but putting their hair  on the line would make this feud even more personal.

If nothing else, the hair stipulation to this reignited feud has given both Sonya and Mandy something to do on SmackDown. Both superstars have been momentarily listless, but now they have some renewed direction, even if it is still against each other. If this Hair Versus Hair stipulation does happen, fans would definitely tune in to see one of these ladies lose their hair, and the results will undoubtedly carry far beyond SummerSlam.

Just as Vince McMahon vowed vengeance against Bobby Lashley when he lost his hair after the WrestleMania 23 match between Umaga and Bobby Lashley, a Hair Versus Hair Match could make the Mandy/Sonya feud even more personal for whomever loses. Eventually, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville could end their feud in a Winner Take All type of match following SummerSlam, or possibly lead to a number one contender opportunity down the road.

Still, it's not just about the feud or the match itself between Sonya and Mandy. The results of a Hair Versus Hair Match would not just drastically alter the look for the loser of this type of match -- more importantly, the direction of that superstar's character would shift. For example, Molly Holly not only looked different, but developed her character following her Hair vs Title match by wearing blatantly fake wigs after her loss to Victoria. In the same way, having a shaved head would undoubtedly change the appearance of Mandy Rose or Sonya Deville, and their character could dramatically change as a result as well.

Losing her golden locks could transform Mandy Rose from the beautiful Golden Goddess to a grunge style character, similar to Rhea Ripley's look. Such a substantial revamp could push the Mandy Rose character out of the creative rut it's currently stuck in, and elevate her character towards some title opportunities. However, Sonya Deville would really thrive with a new bald look.

Having Sonya Deville lose a Hair versus Hair Match may actually do her a world of good. Her new bald look could coincide nicely with her character's anti-Diva gimmick and make her look even more like the badass than she's already portraying. Deville is right on the cusp of surging to the top of the WWE Women's Division and just needs her "Austin 3:16" moment. Shaving her head, coupled with her new attitude following Fire and Desire's split, could create a perfect opportunity for The Daddy's WWE ascension.

Hopefully, WWE pulls the trigger on a Hair Versus Hair Match between Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville because doing so could catapult the careers of The Golden Goddess, The Daddy or both. WWE is obsessed with The Four Horsewoman right now, making it difficult for other WWE Superstars to break through. But, a Hair Versus Hair Match stipulation could set up Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to eventually overtake them. If this stipulation does happen, regardless of the end result, at least one thing is for sure: someone's going to find it much easier to put their hair up before they square up.
