WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle was, at one point, offered the chance to segue into a manager role within the promotion. Had he agreed, he would have managed current SmackDown Superstar Matt Riddle. Despite the opportunity to return to WWE, however, Angle declined the offer and has since explained the rationale behind his decision.

When asked why he ultimately declined WWE's offer to manage Riddle, Angle cited two reasons: "[...] one was my company I started needed my attention 100%, especially with the virus thing and I had to just be there for the company and the other thing was the money, it just...it wasn't enough. I wasn't going to manage somebody for the amount of money they wanted to give me."

Angle confessed that the coronavirus pandemic was also a prevalent factor in his decision, admitting he wasn't thrilled about the idea of having to travel to Florida for tapings and shows despite the pandemic. With young children at home, Angle didn't think traveling to Florida, where WWE shows currently emanate from, was worth the risk -- especially for the money that was on the table.

The Hall of Famer has previously praised Riddle, believing that the SmackDown Superstar will eventually be one of the faces of WWE due to his in-ring talent, personality and ability to connect with the WWE Universe.
