Known as one of the most dominant and powerful tag teams in wrestling history, the Road Warriors consisted of Animal and his tag team partner, Hawk (Mike Hegstrand), who were managed by Paul Ellering. They made a name for themselves between the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). The Road Warriors were known for wearing colorful face paint and shoulder pads with massive spikes extending from them. Their finishing maneuver was termed the "Doomsday Device," where Animal would lift an opponent on his shoulders, for Hawk to dive off the top turnbuckle to deliver a devastating clothesline.

When the Road Warriors moved to the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) in 1990, they took on the Legion of Doom name and continued their impressive run, feuding with teams such as Demolition. Overall, Animal and the Road Warriors were two-time WWE World Tag Team Champions and were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
