WWE Superstar Cesaro is a free agent.

According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Cesaro was offered a new contract by WWE but declined to re-sign. Last year, Cesaro signed a one-year extension to his deal, but with that expired, Cesaro is a free agent and is immediately able to appear for another company without any restrictions.

Cesaro last appeared on WWE television on Feb. 11 when he lost to Happy Corbin on an episode of SmackDown. He signed with WWE in 2011 and spent a year in the FCW developmental territory before being called to the main roster. During his time in the company, Cesaro won the United States Title and was a multiple-time Tag Team Champion with several different partners. Cesaro was well-liked and respected by his WWE colleagues, and the reaction to his exit is said to be "disappointment and dismay."

Prior to his spell in WWE, Cesaro wrestled under his real name Claudio Castagnoli for promotions such as Ring of Honor, Chikara and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. The Swiss native also spent a few years with the Japanese promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH before committing to WWE.

Several WWE wrestlers have recently allowed their contracts to expire, including former NXT Champions Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole. Although Cole quickly signed with All Elite Wrestling, Gargano has yet to commit his future anywhere and is instead enjoying the birth of his first child with fellow wrestler, Candice LeRae. Other wrestlers that made their names on the indies alongside Cesaro have pledged their futures to WWE, however, including Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and AJ Styles.

If Cesaro does decide to follow Cole by jumping to AEW, he will find a few familiar faces in the locker room. One of these might be Jeff Hardy, as the former WWE Champion recently stated that he is All Elite, although the signing has yet to be made official. "I'm going to AEW. I'm so excited," Hardy said in a recent interview.

One wrestler moving in the other direction might be the American Knightmare, Cody Rhodes. Alongside Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks, Rhodes was instrumental in the creation of AEW and, as well as being a wrestler, was also an executive vice president of the promotion. However, Cody and his wife Brandi Rhodes recently left AEW after Cody declined to renew a one-year option on his contract. Rumors state that Cody is WWE bound and might debut before WrestleMania.
