WWE has at last pulled the trigger and called up Matt Riddle from NXT to the main roster. The company revealed his arrival on the Friday Night SmackDown brand this week with a promo video.

The video shows Riddle in action and has a voiceover by Riddle and NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo. This video came just two nights after Riddle wrestled in a Cage Fight against Timothy Thatcher. That match ended with Thatcher knocking out Riddle to win the match with a rear-naked choke, in what most felt was Riddle's swan song in NXT.

Riddle went out by putting over a close friend and someone he came onto the scene with when both men were working for EVOLVE. That might make his arrival on Friday Night SmackDown lead to another familiar feud for the Original Bro.

Riddle also worked in EVOLVE with Drew Gulak, and the two men have a strong familiarity with each other. Gulak just re-signed with WWE and could be ready to return to action when Riddle finally makes his first live appearance on Friday Night SmackDown.

Riddle went to Friday Night SmackDown rather than Monday Night Raw despite being close with Paul Heyman. Dave Meltzer mentioned the reason was partly due to Brock Lesnar being on Raw and not liking Riddle. Meltzer also said that Bruce Pritchard specifically asked for Riddle and AJ Styles and got both men for the Blue Brand.

WWE Friday Night SmackDown airs on Fridays at 8/7c on Fox.
