2k Games and WWE may have landed themselves in hot water after apparently using an image of former Impact Wrestling World Champion Tessa Blanchard in their new WWE 2K Battlegrounds video game, which launched earlier today.Blanchard, who is not under contract with WWE, hasn't commented on the image. However, the photographer who snapped the photo voiced displeasure with the image being used without permission.RELATED: These Luchador-Style Facemasks Encourage Safety, In and Out of the Ring

Impact Wrestling photographer Basil Mahmud responded to a tweet of the image questioning why WWE and 2K were using the photo without permission. AEW superstar Big Swole responded to the tweet, voicing her support for Mahmud. The most puzzling part about this for a majority of fans is Blanchard is not currently under contract with WWE. While it is something that has long been rumored, especially since her departure from Impact in June, as of right now a deal with WWE and Blanchard has not been officially announced.

Only time will tell if this was an unintentional foreshadowing from WWE 2K, or if it was a simple slip up. Neither WWE or Blanchard herself have commented on her image being used in the game.

Developed by Saber Interactive, WWE 2K Battlegrounds is on sale now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
