When Kristen Wiig was first announced as Cheetah for Wonder Woman 1984many fans were wondering how the comedy actress would tackle the role. At CCXP, the film's director, Patty Jenkins, opened up about why she chose Wiig for the role.

During the CCXP panel, Jenkins said, "We were super fans of Kristen, and we love how funny she is, but I've also been a huge admirer of what a great actress she is for a long time. So when we needed someone to go all the way from one end of the spectrum of being funny, sweet Diana's friend, all the way to a totally different place, we knew that Kristen Wiig would kill it, and she went beyond our wildest dreams."

Wiig is perhaps best known for her stint on Saturday Night Live, where she was a member on the show from 2005 - 2012. Wiig also took part in several films such as Bridesmaids and MacGruber.

One thing fans are curious about when it comes to her Cheetah is how the character will look. The trailer depicted Wiig as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, solely portrayed in her human form rather than her cheetah form. Jenkins addressed the concern, teasing the possibility that fans would see some iteration of her cheetah look. She said, "We tried to do as much as we could practically, and we pulled off most of it.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
