WrestleMania 36 has become the new benchmark for social media success in WWE, with more interactions than any other event in the company's history. WWE revealed the record-breaking numbers in a press release Monday.

"This year's WrestleMania is officially the most social event in WWE history, as new champions, a jaw-dropping Boneyard Match, a mind-bending Firefly Fun House Match and non-stop action ignited the conversation throughout," the company said. WrestleMania saw a total of 13.8 million interactions on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter — with people liking, tweeting and posting throughout the entire weekend. It was a jump of 57 percent from WrestleMania 35, according to WWE.

WrestleMania 36 aired from the company's Performance Center in Orlando, Florida without a live audience. With more people home than ever before — and no sports — it appears that WWE was able to capitalize on an audience that basically had no other form of sports-entertainment to watch over the weekend. WrestleMania aired over the course of two nights, making for even more time to talk about the show online.

It's unclear how long WWE plans to continue the empty arena format. At least for now, it doesn't seem to be hurting the company's social media presence.
