Zack Snyder has had a long history with Warner Bros.' DC Extended Universe, which came to a head with 2017's Justice League. Snyder was forced to leave the project due to a personal tragedy, which led to the #ReleasetheSnyderCut movement and then to Zack Snyder's Justice League, which will soon be released, largely due to the enthusiasm fans had for Snyder's original vision for the DCEU.

The director continues to show passion for the shared universe. Speaking at IGN Fan Fest, Snyder discussed a hypothetical offer to direct a sequel to Justice League. While he did not directly reject the idea, he stated, "I think that I would say, I would believe it when I see it, and happy to cross that bridge when I see it approaching."

2017's Justice League encountered a number of behind-the-scenes issues, including Snyder's departure. He recently revealed that he was pressured by the studio to make certain changes to the DCEU, such as its tone, which Warner Bros. wanted to be made lighter. Additionally, Snyder was ultimately replaced by director Joss Whedon, who reshot a significant amount of Justice League and, more than that, has been accused of abusive and unprofessional behavior on set by actor Cyborg actor Ray Fisher.
