Critics and audiences are often on opposite ends of the spectrum. However, both parties indisputably agree that this select group of films should never have come to fruition in the first place.

RELATED: 10 Movies Critics Hate But Audiences Love, According To MetacriticThere's only a finite number of stories even the most creative person in the world can conjure up. With how competitive the film industry can be, constantly releasing movies left and right, the power lies in its execution. How a plot is delivered dictates its success. It's the key to making a movie truly sing or monumentally flop.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

1974's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was inspired by notorious serial killer Ed Gein. One would assume that a franchise derivative of the Butcher of Plainfield mutilating bodies for Halloween costumes has a solid chance of being epic. Sadly, horror fans are robbed of what could've been a beautifully gory experience.

Netflix's 2022 addition to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre only worsened the franchise. There isn't much to say about the film. Type out "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022" on any search engine, and the people's stance on the movie is clear as day.

9 The King's Daughter Should've Stayed In 2014's Archives

The King's Daughter

A movie released after eight years of hiding should be a big enough red flag. Like any other movie in Hollywood, plastering reputable names gives the audience hope for a mind-blowing picture. Pierce Brosnan and Kaya Scodelario taking center stage should've ensured an above-average film. Instead, The King's Daughter is a structural mess from beginning to end.

Netflix's adaptation of the award-winning novel The Moon and the Sun is criminal. The crummy transitions feel amateur at best. Spending most of its screen time on artistic filler shots removes any trace of cohesion the script might've had. After waiting eight years, the final product didn't live up. The King's Daughter is a waste of $40 million and A-Class talent.

8 Blacklight Has Liam Neeson Doing The Bare Minimum

Blacklight

When an artist's heart isn't into it, the final masterpiece doesn't shine as bright as it should. But, of course, that may not be a fair comparison on Neeson's part because an actor is often only as good as the film's that house their performances. So, unfortunately, he was given short shrift.

Liam Neeson is action movie royalty. Yet Blacklight's bare minimum action and rigid dialogue gave him a dodgy, run-down stage instead of the Broadway theatre he deserves. Moreover, the political conspiracy action thriller has no identity of its own. No one knows why it's called Blacklight in the first place.

7 The Bubble Was Dealt All The Right Cards But Lost Their Hand Regardless

The Bubble

From a formidable cast to an unfiltered comedic mastermind and superb writers, The Bubble didn't have a chance at flopping. But, set smack-dab in the middle of a Covid-19 pandemic during the actual pandemic, the world may not have been ready to laugh at loved ones taking turns dying from a newly-discovered disease.

True to Apatow's trademark comedy, The Bubble was intended to be the satiric comedy the world needed to accept and embrace a new way of life, but it fell short of hilarity. So much so that the internet dislikes its intrusion into the genre. Some jokes fell flat, resulting in chaotic disarray of tones throughout the film.

6 Redeeming Love's Script Is Irredeemable

Redeeming Love

Redeeming Love has all the makings of a bad Hallmark movie. Truthfully, there's a market that would greatly appreciate Redeeming Love. To the right audience, using love as an unjust and simplistic answer to healing can be misconstrued as inspirational and enlightening. Especially when adding the pious pinch of a miracle that is Michael falling in love at first sight and seeing it as a sign for God. The Hosea fiction undoubtedly has a niche audience.

Regardless, Redeeming Love doesn't have much to offer when breaking down the film to its bare bones, outside of a decent soundtrack and pretty-looking cinematography. There doesn't seem to be much character development, if any at all. It's not fleshed out at best but emotionally manipulative at worst.

5 The 355 Demotes A Could-Be Riveting Spy Film Around The World To A Generic Thriller

The 355

If Jessica Chastain and Lupita Nyong'o can't save The 355, nothing can. The 355 had every other variable needed to fit in the formula for a jaw-dropping film. Ruefully, the execution of what should've been a powerful female empowerment film fails the feminist movement yet again.

The 355 isn't criminally horrible. It simply lacks an overarching plot, something that would've boded a spy flick incredibly well. The dialogue was a tad awkward and may have included one too many clichéd action-thriller sequences. If it weren't for the overqualified actors, The 355 may not have received the abundance of overly harsh criticisms as standards would've been set at a lower bar.

4 Firestarter Is At The Bottom Of The Stephen King Films Barrell

Firestarter

Despite being an untouchable author, Stephen King is cursed with a vast collection of not-very-good films. The original 1984 Firestarter wasn't groundbreaking, to begin with, but its 2022 remake makes its predecessor seem oscar-worthy.

By today's standards, Firestarter is nowhere near scary enough to be considered a good horror. Especially not when it's sporting the Stephen King brand. A young girl with experimental arson powers that she can't control should be a decently engrossing premise. Albeit a bit tacky, with the proper execution, Firestarter should still have the arsenal to be a solid horror flick.

Unfortunately, the final product lacks any real personality. Just as the film gains spark and momentum, it plunges back into its bland tone of voice. Anyone looking for a haunting horror binge this Halloween can skip Firestarter.

3 The Cellar Should've Remained A Short Film

The Cellar

Brendan Muldowney expanded his 2004 short film, The Ten Steps, into a fully-fledged movie. For brevity, short films tend to get away with a brief background, but fully developed films don't have the luxury of time constraints.

RELATED: 10 Short Films That Would Be Better Full-Length MoviesPossibly due to the existing short film, Muldowney may have had an ending in mind as the film's flow doesn't quite imitate a natural progression. Instead, it feels like the movie was written backward to accommodate the desired ending. This may work for some pictures, but The Cellar isn't one of them. Throwing in every horror trope, The Cellar includes quantum physics, math, Hebrew, and a sprinkle of demonology into its mythos. With too many things going on, each arc lacks a much-needed depth of knowledge for the audience and the story.

2 Home Team Brushes Over A Serious Scandal

Home Team

Loosely based on Sean Payton's career detour, Home Team downplays the then-serious Saints' Bountygate scandal. Home Team exploits the comic relief of a well-known NFL coach swapping out professional athletes for sixth-graders who barely know how to throw a ball.

Everything about Home Team screams Sandler production. Home Team goes down the checklist of Adam Sandler tropes, from juvenile jokes to the dead-beat main protagonists, like it's a shopping list. Additionally, Home Team is too painfully unfunny to get away with glossing past a well-documented and extremely public debacle. Finally, the character development of Kevin James' Sean Payton is virtually nonexistent, leaving the film with very few redeemable points.

1 Morbius Flopped Twice

Morbius looking behind his shoulder in the 2022 film.

For whatever reason, Morbius was re-released into cinemas even after its initial astronomically disappointing debut. Aside from the titular Spiderman trilogy, Sony keeps adding mediocre films into the Spidey cinematic universe. Though Venom doesn't exactly run with the top dogs of Marvel movies, it was financially successful, and Tom Hardy was marvelous. Morbius, on the other hand, does nothing but leave a foul taste in everyone's mouths.

Morbius is too grim for its own good. Characters feel underdeveloped. The unimpressive visual effects cosplay the film as a low-budget superhero flick from twenty years ago. The austere film strictly colored within the lines, seemingly too afraid to use a little imagination. The movie's action sequences lack thrill, and its script lacks some actual substance. As sad as it may sound, even critics con Morbius 2022's biggest punchline.
