The anime adaptation of LINK and Kotaro Shōno's World's End Harem was supposed to premiere as part of Crunchyroll's fall 2021 anime season; however, the series has been postponed until early next year after airing just one episode in Japan.According to an announcement posted to the anime's official Twitter account, the first episode of World's End Harem that premiered on Oct. 8 in Japan is now being labelled as a "special advance broadcast," and the streaming version of the episode and all subsequent episodes will not be released until sometime in January 2022. The announcement also explains that the delay is due to the production having to be "closely examined."RELATED: Demon Slayer Dub and Mugen Train Movie Now Available on Crunchyroll

As of right now, it appears that Studio Gokumi (Ms. Vampire Who Lives in My Neighborhood, Pandora in the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn) and AXsiZ (Ulysses: Jeanne d'Arc and the Alchemist Knight, Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles) are expected to continue their collaborating on the production of the animated series. The same creative team is expected to continue working on World's End Harem: Yu Nobuta (Ouran High School Host Club, A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd) is still directing, Tatsuya Takahashi (The Faraway Paladin, I've Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level) will continue overseeing the series composition and Masaru Koseki (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Seven Mortal Sins) is still listed as the series' character designer.

The original World's End Harem manga series debuted on Shueisha's online magazine Shōnen Jump+ in May 2016 and ran until June 2020. The story follows protagonist Reito Mizuhara (Tachi Ichikawa), who is put in cryostasis while awaiting a life-saving treatment to be developed for his rare condition. However, when he awakens five years later, Reito discovers that the world has been devasted by an extremely contagious and lethal virus and that he is one of a small percentage of immune men left in the world.

While anime fans may not be able to watch World's End Harem on Crunchyroll for another couple of months, there are several other series in the streaming service's current lineup that they can enjoy in the interim. If World's End Harem sticks to its new release window and does premiere as part of the winter 2022 anime season, it will premiere alongside JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean, Requiem of the Rose King, Saiyuki Reload ZEROIN, The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt, Slow Loop and part two of The Case Study of Vanitas.
