The World Trigger manga will be taking a hiatus due to creator Daisuke Ashihara's health issues.

As announced by the series' official Twitter account and translated by Crunchyroll, the official Twitter account for the adventure/sci-fi series stated that the manga will be taking a month-long break because of Ashihara's "poor physical condition." Thus, the next chapter of World Trigger will debut on June 3 in the July issue of Shueisha's Jump SQ instead.

This is not the first time that Ashihara's poor health has caused the delayed release of World Trigger chapters. The manga series took a month-long break in January this year for the February issue of Jump SQ, nor was it published in March, May and November last year. Ashihara's condition even caused the manga to go on hiatus in 2016 for around two years. Despite these frequent breaks, the exact nature of the author's health problems have not been disclosed.

Set in a world where monsters known as "Neighbours" have invaded Earth through a gate in Mikado City that leads to another realm, World Trigger follows Osamu Mikumo, a high school student who is secretly a member-in-training of an organization set up to fight these beasts called the Border Defense Agency. Using specialist weapons called "Triggers," Border manages to keep the Neighbours in check and life in Mikado City more-or-less returns to normal under the group's vigilant guard. Everything changes, however, when Mikumo discovers that the mysterious transfer student Yuma Kuga is actually a humanoid Neighbour in disguise. Thus begins an action-packed tale as Mikumo helps Kuga to hide his true identity from the watchful eyes of Border while also learning more about himself along the way.

An anime adaptation of World Trigger by Toei Animation began airing in 2014, with the third season recently ending in January this year. Coming to an enormous 99 episodes, the show boasts considerable talent behind the scenes, with Morio Hatano (One Piece) directing the second and third seasons, Ghost in the Shell's Kenji Kawai composing the music and Hiroyuki Yoshino of Code Geass fame serving as head writer. The Japanese voice cast is also comprised of anime legends such as Yuki Kaji (Attack on Titan), Tomo Muranaka (Haikyuu!!), Yuuichi Nakamura (Jujutsu Kaisen), Rie Kugimiya (Kotaro Lives Alone) and Nobunaga Shimazaki (Fruits Basket).

The World Trigger manga is available in English physically through Viz Media's license of the series and digitally through the company's Weekly Shonen Jump subscription. All three seasons of the anime adaptation are available to stream now on Crunchyroll.
