A trailer for the upcoming World of  Tanks annual festive update, Holiday Ops 2022, dropped and it stars iconic action-film star Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The former Governor of California features heavily in the Christmas promo, released on the World of Tanks YouTube channel. Fans of the massively multiplayer online game have been anticipating the arrival of the update for some time, and now that it's here, Schwarzenegger can add World of Tanks to his filmography alongside the Terminator films and Predator.

The trailer begins inside the Schwarzenegger household when he unexpectedly receives a letter from a young boy that has remained undelivered for 30 years. Arnie, filled with Christmas spirit, returns inside to find his keys. Before picking up one set he says, "I'm gonna need a bigger bird," and promptly flies off in his helicopter. The action hero then lands in an idyllic Christmas village, finding the grown-up "Little Johnny" and his family. After a family photo and offering a gift to Johnny's son, Schwarzenegger sighs a "Mission Accomplished," before looking straight into the camera and asking, "Ready to celebrate?"

The camera zooms out, showing the entirety of the Christmas setting, finally revealing that this was, in fact, a World of Tanks trailer for the soon-to-be-released Holiday Ops update. Though no official release date has been confirmed, various sources indicate the patch may drop on Dec. 7 for Europe and Russia. This date seems a reasonable assumption, at least, based on the Dec. 9, 2020 release date for the previous Holiday Ops update.

This isn't the first time World of Tanks has utilized a well-known action star for its festive promos. Last year, developer Wargaming released a similarly odd Holiday Ops trailer featuring Chuck Norris. The Walker, Texas Ranger star appeared prominently in the Holiday Ops 2021 update, which featured Norris-specific missions and cosmetic rewards. Players can look back to this previous Christmas update to garner some idea of what may come this year with Schwarzenegger's involvement.

World of Tanks is a team-based tank warfare MMO released by the Belarusian company Wargaming in 2010. The game uses the freemium business model popularly utilized by many games, including Pokémon Go and Fortnite. This allows gamers to play for free, while more invested players can spend money on more high-tier features. The growing popularity of World of Tanks has led to ports for major consoles, including PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
