The Incredible Hulk might claim to be the strongest one there is, but that's not always the case. The Incredible Hulk's power grows increasingly with every passing second he remains angry. Furthermore, different forms of the Hulk have different levels of power. The green Savage Hulk to the grey Joe Fixit, some iterations of the Hulk start from a level of power that's far beyond that of the average Hulk, only to just keep pushing on beyond even that.

While all of these forms are strong, the mightiest is World Breaker Hulk. Most famous for taking on most of Marvel's heroes during the World War Hulk crossover, this Hulk is strong enough to shake the Earth to its core. While the upper limits of his strength aren't really clear, we're breaking down whether or not this Hulk would be able to take on Thanos, one of the few beings who's strong enough to defeat the Hulk in one-on-one combat.

World Breaker Hulk by Comparison

World War Hulk

World Breaker Hulk emerged following the conclusion of "Planet Hulk," which led this Hulk back to Earth for the World War Hulk event. This Hulk's absurd level of strength demonstrably proved that he was the strongest character around. His mere movements are enough to trigger earthquakes. He took on the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Fin Fang Foom, Arm'Chedon, Bi-Beast -- none of them could beat World Breaker Hulk. Black Bolt's ultimate scream, which is strong enough to level a mountain range, barely affected Hulk.

Furthermore, World Breaker Hulk emits enough radiation from his body to make an entire city uninhabitable. If he wants to be particularly destructive, he can unleash his Thunder Clap, which normally would create a shockwave of destruction. As World Breaker Hulk, however, this shockwave carries with it radiation. Given the increased intensity of magnitude and radiant energy, the Thunder Clap can eradicate entire cities, blowing buildings to the ground while simultaneously irradiating them.

World Breaker Hulk's continuous rage also increases his power, making him stronger the longer that he's the Hulk. However, as someone who can just increase in strength, regenerate from any injury, and can be almost unhurt by anything, it seems improbable that anything can stop him.

The Limits of Thanos's Power

Thanos-Endgame-1400

By any traditional measure, Thanos has a great deal of strength. The Nova Corps regards him as a Catagory 1 Life-Ender -- a destructive force on a Universal Level. With the Infinity Gauntlet, Thanos can annihilate just about everything. But even without that -- even without the Power Gem -- Thanos is still one of the strongest Marvel characters. The upper limits of his strength are also unfathomable, especially considering how Death herself has augmented his abilities. He's been able to beat down the Hulk plenty of times, took down Beta-Ray Bill, Thor, Ronan the Accuser and just about everyone else to ever come up against him.

Beyond just raw strength, Thanos is an intelligent strategist, possesses nearly unlimited stamina, and is almost completely indestructible. He can teleport, fire off waves of energy -- he's basically a walking one-man cosmic army.

However, Thanos isn't unstoppable. While he can teleport, his physical speed isn't the fastest. Furthermore, while he was once immortal, Death has lifted the ban on him ever perishing, meaning he can be pushed beyond the brink of death. While he can regenerate, major organ damage can result in fatal injury. This is not to say that Thanos is unstoppable, but that he's merely one of the strongest entities in the Marvel Universe.

Is World Breaker Hulk Stronger Than Thanos?

While the World Breaker Hulk and Thanos are both powerhouses, this Hulk will always overpower Thanos, assuming he doesn't have the Infinity Gauntlet. Both Thanos and Hulk can take a licking and keep on ticking, so their intense strength wouldn't, at first, be enough. While both are capable of unleashing massive amounts of energy, it might not be enough to eradicate one or the other, though the Hulk's radiation might be enough to seriously hurt Thanos.

On the other hand, World Breaker Hulk continuously grows stronger. If the fight fails to end fast, Hulk will just get angrier and angrier, which will lead to him becoming even more powerful. Thanos likewise has almost unlimited endurance, meaning he can continue fighting for as long as it takes. Therefore, something will eventually give out, and it won't be the Hulk's bottomless rage.
