There's an undeniable charm -- and a wonderful dichotomy -- to these transforming WooBot toys. Although we may think of chrome and steel when we imagine the Transformers, or their poorer cousins the Gobots, the WooBots are made from wood, as if carved and assembled in, I don't know, Santa's Workshop.

Created by Canadian wooden-toy developer Bamloff, there are five WooBots in the series: Beetle, Truck, Warship, AutoBus and Jet Fighter. "All of the WooBots can turn into two different pre-determined forms," the company explains, "but what you do with them is really up to your imagination, making them not only a fun toy or a collector’s item, but also a tool for developing creativity."

The toys can be preordered for $19 each, or $99 for the full set, through Bamloff's already-successful Kickstarter campaign. They're ready to ship in time for the holidays, so you'll be able to shout, "WooBots, woll out!" within the month.
