For the second year in a row, WonderCon will hold a virtual event rather than an in-person gathering.

The WonderCon@Home virtual event will take place over the course of two days, beginning on March 26. A statement released by the organizers of WonderCon cited the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as the reason for the virtual shift.

"We have hoped that by now, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic might have subsided enough that we could once again come together in person for a traditional WonderCon event," the statement read. "Sadly, as we continue to monitor the latest information from healthcare officials, we have determined the interest of public safety will prevent this spring’s WonderCon from moving forward as an in-person convention."

The WonderCon organizers also said that the event, which usually takes place over the course of three days, was shortened to a two-day event as resources are being marshaled for San Diego's Comic-Con International this July. This year's SDCC is slated to take place at the San Diego Convention Center on July 22-25.

Last year, the COVID-19 pandemic led to both WonderCon and Comic-Con pivoting to virtual events. The pandemic has also affected the grand opening of the long-anticipated Comic-Con Museum, which was announced at SDCC 2019.

WonderCon@Home will take place from March 26-27.
