DC's announcement for "Trial of the Amazons" hinted that it will be absolutely massive, both in terms of the scale of the story and the number of characters involved. The teaser image by Jen Bartel features many prominent characters from the Wonder Woman mythos, including Artemis, Hippolyta, Yara Flor, Nubia and Diana herself. These women will be at the heart of the book's central power struggle for the future of the Amazons, with will begin unfolding in the pages of Nubia & The Amazons later this month.

This is only the latest cosmic odyssey for Wonder Woman, who has been tackling larger-than-life foes in the fallout of Dark Nights: Death Metal. Though she recently returned to Earth, not everybody is happy to see her, something that will be explored through this story. "Trial of the Amazons" will also expand on the relationship between Diana and the new Wonder Girl Yara Flor, who has stepped in the midst of DC's Infinite Frontier to become a hero in her own right.

Though she has been a prominent character in DC's pantheon of heroes for decades, 2021 is arguably the biggest year in the character's history. In addition to being inducted into the Comic-Con Character Hall of Fame, the Wonder Woman franchise has blossomed, with Hippolyta becoming a featured player in Justice League, Nubia taking the spotlight in Nubia & The Amazons and the creation of Yara Flor, whose debut in Future State: Wonder Woman led to her own Wonder Girl series.

Starting this November, Wonder Woman will also be the star of the eight-issue miniseries Wonder Woman: Evolution. The book is being made by Harley Quinn writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Mike Hawthorne, fresh off of an acclaimed run on Daredevil. In it, Wonder Woman represents Earth in a cosmic trial that will decide the ultimate fate of humanity. She must appeal to the entities that act as arbiters of the universe by completing a series of challenges designed to test her both mentally and physically.
