To date, Warner Bros. has been remained quiet when it comes to identifying the villain of the upcoming "Wonder Woman" solo film. A villain was noticeably absent from the film's trailer and every character that's been cast so far has either been an Amazon or one of Wonder Woman's human sidekicks. The identity of the film's main antagonist remained a mystery, until an article from a French magazine indicated that the villain will be Ares, the god of war.

A new look at some of "Wonder Woman's" action figures seemingly corroborate the earlier report that Ares will stir up trouble in the DC Comics movie. The two figures below -- Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor -- come with build-a-figure pieces. This incentivizes collectors to buy every toy in a line so they can put together a new figure from all of the single parts. As revealed on the package, both Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor come with parts of an Ares figure.

Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce Ares' involvement in the film, and the character has not yet been seen in any "Wonder Woman" trailers or promotional art.

Written by Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns from a story by Heinberg and Zack Snyder, “Wonder Woman” stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Lisa Loven Kongsli and David Thewlis. The film opens June 2, 2017.
