Wonder Woman is celebrating the final day of National Ice Cream Month with a familiar friend.

In an image released on Wonder Woman's Twitter account, Diana shares a cone of what appears to be strawberry soft serve ice cream with Supergirl. The image originally appeared as artist Jenny Frison's variant cover for Wonder Woman #47.

Wonder Woman's love of ice cream has become something of a meme in recent years. According to Polygon, the meme has its origins in a Justice League story from DC Comics' 2011 New 52 reboot Justice League: Origin. In one scene, the Amazonian princess befriends a little girl named Raquel, who is eating strawberry ice cream. Raquel introduces the treat to the superhero, who immediately falls in love with the stuff, even congratulating the vendor.

Variations of the scene have appeared in Justice League: War, an animated direct-to-video adaptation of the story; the live-action Wonder Woman movie; and the DC Super Hero Girls television series, as well as other comics. In popular culture, Supergirl has also occasionally been shown to be a fan of ice cream, such as in her own television show.

According to the International Dairy Foods Association, July was officially designated as National Ice Cream Month by President Ronald Reagan in 1984, who asked for people to honor the month with "appropriate ceremonies and activities." In addition, the third Sunday of July was designated as National Ice Cream Day. July 21 served as National Ice Cream Day in 2019.
