The 2017 superhero movie Wonder Woman was critically acclaimed and a box office hit. Gal Gadot's portrayal of Wonder Woman caught a lot of eyeballs. Chris Pine's take on Captain Steve Trevor was a big hit as well. Smart, enterprising yet goofy and sweet, Steve Trevor brought many moments of lightness and humor to the film.

Steve is the first man Diana meets and he is the one who introduces her to the human world. His fascination with her and the awkwardness, he feels all translate to these many laugh out loud moments. Here are some of his funniest lines from the movie.

10 "...The Whole Point Was To Make Her Less Distracting."

Gal Gadot glows as Diana in Wonder Woman. It is almost impossible to take your eyes off of her. Something Steve Trevor understands very quickly. He takes her to buy clothes so that she can better mix in with the crowd and not stand out so much. She finds most clothes uncomfortable and finally decides on one that looks very formal, and is probably the female version of a suit from the time. Even in this supposedly drab attire, Steve realizes how distracting she still is. And this unfruitful attempt to make her look less distracting is really amusing.

9 "Where I Come From, Babies Are Made Differently."

Diana didn't have a father. Wonder Woman was molded out of clay and given life by Zeus. Steve very casually points out how this is not usually how babies are made in the human world. Steve wants to appear casual, knowing, and clever but his attempts are quite funny to observe because he's so awkward in dealing with Diana's straightforwardness. Diana promptly replies back about biological reproduction with no embarrassment. The highlight of such interactions between Diana and Steve is Steve's awkwardness and embarrassment which is really funny for viewers to see.

8 "I Will Sleep With You, If You Want."

Steve arranges some stuff so that Diana can sleep comfortably on the boat and moves to the other side. Diana questions him as to why he isn't sleeping next to her. His reactions to this are hilarious. He struggles to string together a coherent answer and mumbles about how people usually only sleep with each other in the confines of marriage, and how it wasn't polite to assume otherwise and so on.

Diana doesn't understand any of these nuances and asks pointedly again and so he very awkwardly says he doesn't mind and goes and sleeps next to her.

7 "All 12, huh? Did You Bring Any Of Those With You?"

When Steve implies that there is more than just reproductive biology, Diana unhesitatingly goes on to talk about the pleasures of the flesh. She says that she's read all 12 of Clio's Treatises on Bodily Pleasures. And it is to this that Steve replies with the above quote. The mix of discomfort but also curiosity and fascination that Steve has is clearly reflected in this quote, and especially in the tone in which he asks his question. It's one of the moments where most viewers will laugh at and relate to the Captain.

6 "She Got Lost On The Way To The Bathroom."

Women are not allowed inside the Council Chamber. This was widely acknowledged and never really challenged. Diana may be Wonder Woman but she doesn't understand these social norms, nor is she someone who blindly follows such social norms. She doesn't feel out of place in the room full of men. They cannot comprehend how a woman was standing so comfortably in this male-only space. Steve tries to take her out and mumbles this as he tries to reason why Diana was there in the room. He literally has to push Diana out of the Council Chamber.

5 "Stand Back! Or Maybe Not."

When the "bad-guy convention" corners Steve and Diana, his natural instinct is to protect her. He steps in front of her and asks her to stand back. But when the bullet comes, Diana easily intercepts it. And it's then he suddenly remembers who she actually is. So he moves to the side to let her do her thing.

This fast-paced scene in which these two lines appear back to back hence is a really hilarious moment, that is very reminiscent of a usual superhero movie trope. But here Wonder Woman subverts it by acting as the protector.

4 "I'm A Spy! That's What I Do."

Diana is so deeply offended when she finds out that he has lied to the Generals. He agrees not to do anything as per his superiors' wishes and Diana is super angry at him for not standing up to them. But Steve knows that there is no way he can convince them and has already decided that he was going to ignore their instructions and do what was needed to be done anyway. But when Diana looks so shocked about his lying, he replies back with the above. He is a spy, his job is to lie. And the manner he says this will have viewers chuckle.

3 "So It's For A Great Cause, Uh, Freedom. Friendship, Uh, Ending The War, Friendship-"

Steve Trevor mumbles a lot when he doesn't really know what to say. This is another situation where he does this. He asks a big favour of his friends but doesn't really have money to pay them. So instead he comes up with these reasons as to why he thinks they should help him. And the trailing manner in which he says this shows how little conviction he himself has in what he's saying. He trails off after repeating the same reason twice as well.

2 "I'm Taking You To The Front. We Are Probably Going To Die. This Is A Terrible Idea."

When Diana points out how he can so easily lie and that she can't trust him, he ties the Lasso of Hestia around his wrist. This is to prove to Diana that he was being honest about his intentions to take her to the front, as he had promised earlier.

While he intended to only say the first bit, the Lasso inevitably induces him to be more honest and he delves into his worse fears about the actual mission. Steve's fading confidence is hilarious to watch. And the way in which he digresses is extremely amusing.

1 "I Am Above Average."

Steve Trevor is the first man that Diana has ever seen. So she is obviously quite fascinated with him. She asks him if he is an average specimen of his sex. Steve is enchanted by Diana, and is very taken by her. His small confidence combined with his need to impress her results into this very small dialogue he says about him being above average
