Wonder Woman, aka Diana of Themyscira, is one of the main lights of hope in the DC Universe. She came from her paradise island inhabited by Amazons to try and bring peace to the world of man. She has been a member of the Justice Society and Justice League over the years, and she has saved all of existence on several occasions.

10 COULD NEVER TURN EVIL: Her Sympathy For The Silver Swan

Silver Swan perched on a rooftop

One of Wonder Woman's most recurring enemies is the Silver Swan. In her most recent incarnation by James Robinson, Carmen Carnero, and Emanuela Lupacchino, a girl named Vanessa Kapatelis was injured during a fight between Wonder Woman and Major Disaster. Vanessa was unable to walk after this, but Diana visited Vanessa every day for years. Eventually, she was given a nanite treatment that allowed Vanessa to walk again. However, at this point, she also discovered that she was "no one special" to Wonder Woman, as Diana often spends time with people who are injured or endangered by the villains she fights.

This caused Vanessa to snap, and she found herself able to control the nanites, giving herself wings and a sonic scream as the Silver Swan. She began hunting down other families that Wonder Woman spent time with--forcing Diana's hand. Wonder Woman stopped the Silver Swan, but she gave Vanessa every chance to change her ways. After Vanessa was institutionalized and had the nanites removed, Wonder Woman continued to check in on the Silver Swan's therapy.

She activated the Witchmark of countless beings whom she once had contact with--and that included Diana.

In this story, Diana discovers that the recent rampage of OMAC drones that have been killing and converting superhumans into one of their own is being controlled by Maxwell Lord--who had killed the Blue Beetle when he discovered the truth. Diana's only means of stopping the OMAC plague is killing Max Lord, so she snaps his neck as Superman watches in horror.

Wonder Woman Star Sapphire Corps male and female

When the Blackest Night (by Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis) fell upon the DC Universe, the various Lantern Corps knew they needed more recruits on Earth to fight the source of this disaster. This brought recruits like Lex Luthor, Mera of Xebel, the Flash, and the Atom into variously-colored Lantern Corps. Wonder Woman was among those recruits, and she was inducted into the Star Sapphire Corps.

The Star Sapphires wiled the Violet light of love, and this shows the strength of Diana's love for all life that she would be the first choice of the Star Sapphires on Earth.

There was no Superman, Batman was a gun-toting Thomas Wayne, and Wonder Woman was the warlord general of Themyscira.
