Director Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman won the Critics’ Choice Award for best action film Thursday during a night that otherwise belonged to The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Guillermo del Toro's celebrated dark fantasy won four awards, including best picture and best director, while Three Billboards took home trophies for best actress (Frances McDormand), supporting actor (Sam Rockwell) and acting ensemble. Jordan Peele's horror film Get Out was recognized for best original screenplay and best sci-fi or horror movie.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot was also presented by Jenkins with a #SeeHer Award, recognizing her work, on and off screen, in challenging stereotypes. “I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what’s right, standing for those who can’t stand or speak for themselves,” she said in her acceptance speech. “And I promise, my commitment to all of you is that I will never be silenced. And we will continue to band together to make strides uniting for equality.”

The television categories were dominated by Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale and HBO's Big Little Lies, which each won multiple awards, including best drama and best limited series, respectively.
