Comic Book Questions Answered – where I answer whatever questions you folks might have about comic books (feel free to e-mail questions to me at brianc@cbr.com).

Reader Bruce P. wanted to know how tall Wonder Woman was in the comics. He was referring to one specific comic that I'll get to later, but I figured it was a fair enough question overall, so let's get into it!

I figured that the easiest way to do this was just go by DC's own comic book guides over the years.

According to the original Who's Who, the first Wonder Woman, the Earth-Two version, was five foot eight inches tall...

However, the Earth-One version of Wonder Woman (I guess nominally the Post-Crisis one by the time the Wonder Woman issue of Who's Who came out) was three inches taller...

That remained the same when DC did a new edition of Who's Who in 1990-91...

Over a decade later, when DC started doing Secret Files and Origins for their characters, Wonder Woman remained five foot eleven...

This stayed the same in the two Secret Files and Origins that followed, although she amusingly gained five pounds in the last one...

Howver, in the New 52, Wonder Woman finally hit six feet tall...

And I believe that that is currently her official height in the comics.

Amusingly, though, alternate realities had different takes on her height, and Darwyn Cooke, for instance, took the approach that she should be "Amazonian" in size and so she was a good two inches taller than Superman in DC: The New Frontier (this is what confused Bruce in the first place, because he remembered this scene and wanted to know what the deal was)...

During DC Rebirth, Wonder Woman #6 (by Greg Rucka, Nicola Scott and Romulo Fajardo) reveals that Wonder Woman is now six foot two...

I wouldn't be surprised if they keep increasing her height over the next few years. More tall apparently is more better!

Gal Gadot, by the way, is five ten...

Thanks for the question, Bruce!
