Gadot saw a standout year with the release of Wonder Woman, a film that managed to outperform all estimates and earn a staggering $412 million stateside and a global haul of $821 million, and went on to star alongside her fellow DC superheroes in November’s Justice League. While that film ultimately proved to be a box office disappointment for Warner Bros. — it’s currently at $652 million worldwide — the film’s gross helped push Gadot into the top three highest-grossing actors list behind Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, making her the highest-grossing actress of 2017, as reported by Forbes.

With Wonder Woman and Justice League, Gadot’s two performances last year totaled an impressive $1.4 billion worldwide. While she made her first appearance as Wonder Woman in 2016’s highly divisive Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Amazon princess’ first solo outing told the origin story of one of the world’s most iconic superheroes. With Patty Jenkins directing and the film serving as the first female-led superhero film within the past decade, Wonder Woman went on to beat all expectations and debuted with the biggest opening ever for a female director.

Emma Watson is No. 4 on Forbes’ list, with a 2017 global box office of $1.3 billion due to the success of Beauty and the Beast.
