WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Wonder Woman #779, on sale now from DC Comics.

Since the launch of Infinite Frontier, the DC Universe has had a big Wonder Woman sized hole in it. After sacrificing herself in Dark Nights: Death Metal, the Princess of the Amazons has been going on her own adventures well outside of the DCU. Whilst her friends and allies figuring out how to go on without her, Diana has been on a divine odyssey searching for a way home. And now, that odyssey has come to an end.

After ascending in Death Metal, Wonder Woman was invited into the ranks of the all-powerful Quintessence in Infinite Frontier #0. This issue saw her accompany Spectre on a whirlwind tour of the newly restored DC Universe, which ultimately led to her rejecting the Quintessence's offer shortly before they were killed. After that, in the pages of the main Wonder Woman series, she found herself in the Norse heaven of Valhalla where she quickly realized something wasn't right. This led her on a voyage throughout the Godsphere, where she visited the likes of Olympus, making new friends and righting the wrongs of the villainous Janus, who sought to destroy all of history itself.

After breaking through to the multiverse, the Phantom Zone, and even the Fifth Dimension, Diana finally caught up with her foe in Wonder Woman #779 by Michael W. Conrad, Becky Cloonan, Travis Moore, Tamra Bonvillain and Pat Brosseau.

Diana and Janus come face to face in a realm between life or death, with the villain still wielding the powerful Godscraper, a weapon capable of tearing apart reality. The Amazon Princess realizes that Janus has been a pawn of her other half this entire time. The Roman God Janus hoped to manipulate his history-hating other half into dooming the future.

Members of the Greek Pantheon and the Valkyrie Gudra bring these two Janus together. As Diana appeals to the Three Fates to show them both mercy, she herself decides their punishment. She shows compassion and binds them together once again using her new lasso, a thread of fate. With that, her mission in the Godsphere is complete. The gods offer her a place on Olympus, where she was meant to go after rejecting the Quintessence, but once again she refuses. She would rather continue doing good as a mortal than retire as a god.

Finally, with every loose end tied up, the path home is revealed to her. Before the destructive weapon returns to Olympus to be broken apart by its creator, Hephaestus, Diana uses the fabled Godscraper on herself to forge a path back to earth.

It's been a while since Diana was last on Earth. Though she may have briefly checked up on her Amazonian sisters during Infinite Frontier #0, a lot has changed since then. When it comes to the Justice League, she may be surprised to see her own mother taking her place on the team. With Hippolyta's daughter returning, it will be interesting to see if she will rejoin the League in some way, or allow her mother to take her place permanently. As for her other team, Justice League Dark, things have changed even more for them in Diana's absence. Without Wonder Woman to lead them, the team has moved on, with Zatanna reluctantly stepping up as their new leader.

Then of course there's what's been going on with the rest of the Amazons. Diana saw Nubia become Themyscira's queen back in Infinite Frontier #0 but she hasn't seen what the other Wonder Woman's rule looks like herself. Then there's the emergence of the new Wonder Girl, Yara Flor. Seeing the various Amazons across the Earth hunting this mysterious girl will most likely come as a shock to Diana and may lead to her getting involved too. Whatever happens upon her return, it's sure to be interesting.
