To co-incide with the opening weekend of the upcoming Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot, DC Entertainment has announced its intention to hold a Wonder Woman Day on June 3, 2017.

According to DC's press release, the celebration, which will be similar to previous Batman Days, "will honor the 75-year legacy of the Amazon Princess with wondrous festivities across the country and around the world."

As part of the celebrations, DC will be producing two special-edition comics; Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1 will reprint the recent Wonder Woman #1 written by Greg Rucka, with art by Liam Sharp, while for younger readers there will be DC Super Hero Girls Wonder Woman Day Special Edition #1, which will feature the story "Summer Olympus," written by Shea Fontana with art by Yancey Labat, from the upcoming DC Super Hero Girls Vol. 3.

DC will also be teaming-up with a variety of retail partners, including Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Walmart, Costco and Amazon, as well as Six Flags Theme Parks for "exclusive in-store and digital promotions," that will include exclusive Wonder Woman tiaras and bracelets available for purchase at select retailers.

A variety of Wonder Woman creators, including Greg Rucka, Phil Jimenez, Cliff Chiang, Shea Fontana, Marc Andreyko, and Cat Staggs will also be attending live events on the day.

In addition to all this, Wonder Woman Day will be spilling out online with the DCAllAccess app. This will feature a week of special Wonder Woman programming spotlighting essential books starring the character and interviews with both the cast and crew behind the new feature film, and a number of the acclaimed comic writers and artists who have who have worked on the character over the past few decades. There will also be significant discounts on Wonder Woman's comic book adventures at readdcentertainment.com and in the DC Comics app from May 30.

Opening on 2 June, Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins from a script from Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui and David Thewlis.
