WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, now available on Digital HD.

In Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Diana of Themyscira runs the gauntlet, facing several of her rogues after some mysterious backer upgrades their powers. As the film progresses, it appears this group, Villainy Inc., is being run by Dr. Poison and Dr. Cyber.

However, after Diana saves Paradise Island from being invaded by this sinister society and their weapon of mass destruction, Medusa, the truth comes out with respect to the real backer. Wonder Woman does some digging off-camera at the end of the film, which leads to a mid-credits sequence that sounds the horn of war for Themyscira. The woman she once thought was her ally is actually the person hellbent on destroying her people: Veronica Cale.

Earlier in the film, Vanessa Kapatelis' mom, Julia, an employee of Cale Pharmaceuticals, is killed after her daughter tries to sell key intel to Villainy Inc. This led to Vanessa joining the group to seek vengeance against Diana as she blamed her for Julia's death, powering up to become the Silver Swan. Diana asks Cale to help find Themyscira using her mind-probing tech and the warrior's memories, however, after incapacitating Swan she believes once she finds Paradise Island again (her memories faded when she ran away) the purple healing ray back home can be used to cure Swan, her former friend.

Cale does so, only for Villainy Inc. to then hack her company, attain the location and wage war on Paradise Island. But the mid-credits reveals this was no accident -- it was all part of Cale's long con.

The scene opens with Diana smashing through Cale's doors and confronting her, as her recon work tied Villainy Inc.'s funding right back to Cale. Cale isn't shy at all, admitting she led the group from the shadows because she wanted them to raze Themyscira and steal their tech for her company. She actually killed Julia and set things in motion so Vanessa would become the Swan, revealing Villainy Inc. didn't steal her nanotech for the transformation, she simply gave them it.

Diana makes it clear the plan backfired because not only did Medusa kill Poison and Cyber in an act of betrayal, she was beheaded by the Amazon princess without being able to cause severe damage. In other words, Cale doesn't have a thing to gain from her scheme. Cale, however, admits it's still a victory for her because she now knows Themyscira's location, and will be paying it a visit.

Diana warns her, however, any act of war will be met with swift retribution and impales Cale's desk with a sword, inviting the next iteration of Villainy Inc. to try their luck. She's reunited with Queen Hippolyta and as relations are on the mend with the outside world -- Swan is changed back to Vanessa and inducted into Paradise Island -- Diana is ready to defend it as Wonder Woman, a title she now accepts.

Cale, created in 2003 by Greg Rucka and Drew Johnson, screams at her that this isn't over as Diana walks away, knowing her home is well-protected. It's intriguing to see such a psychotic breakdown at this moment as it's similar to Cale's characterization from the comics, which used her pharmaceutical company to try to attack Diana's people on numerous occasions. She didn't oversee Villainy Inc. there but in the DC Rebirth era, Cale did lead Godwatch, a group that follows a similar arc.

Either way, Diana now officially has her own Lex Luthor and with Cale's tech -- plus the fact she powered up rogues like Giganta and Cheetah -- Themyscira shouldn't underestimate her.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines stars Rosario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Jeffrey Donovan as Steve Trevor, Adrienne Moore as Etta Candy, Nia Vardalos as Julia Kapatelis and Cree Summer as Hippolyta, as well as Marie Avgeropoulos as Silver Swan. Available now on Digital HD and on Blu-ray and 4k Ultra HD.
