A new report suggests actor Pedro Pascal may play a "god in disguise" in director Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 1984.

The Game of Thrones and Kingsman: The Golden Circle alum has joined a cast that includes returning stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, as well as newcomer Kristen Wiig as the villainous Cheetah, in the sequel to the 2017 hit.

Posting on Twitter, insider DanielRPK said, "I hear Pedro Pascal's character is a God in disguise." If that's the case, Pascal's role will be similar to how David Thewlis' Ares worked in the first movie. When asked whether the character could link to Steve Trevor's return and be masquerading as Diana's fallen love interest, DanielRPK added to the fan theories behind Pine's return as Trevor and responded, "Nope. That's the real Steve Trevor."

Fans on social media quickly jumped to the assumption that Pascal could be playing Hades, while some suggested he could be DC's Doctor Fate, to help introduce a larger roster of heroes in the DC Extended Universe.

Pascal joined the Warner Bros. production in March, and as Wonder Woman 2 moves forward with its official 1984 title and the first images of Gadot's new costume appear, audiences will find out more in the coming months. However, with Wonder Woman 1984 set for a November 2019 releasee and the Pascal twist presumably a big part of the movie, expect the wild speculation on who this mysterious god could be to continue.

Directed by Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig and Pedro Pascal, Wonder Woman 1984 is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.
