Kristen Wiig is reportedly in talks to join the cast of Wonder Woman 2 as the villainous Cheetah.

Deadline reports that Wiig is currently the frontrunner for the role of Cheetah in the Wonder Woman sequel. This news comes in the wake of reports that Emma Stone was eyed for the role but turned it down.

Cheetah was introduced in the Wonder Woman comics in 1943 and has appeared in four incarnations over the past 75 years. Previously, it has been suggested the Warner Bros. sequel will feature Barbara Ann Minerva, a British anthropologist who becomes the avatar of a cheetah god after mistakenly finding her way into an ancient ritual. This latest report appears to confirm that speculation.

Wiig is best known for her comedic roles in films like BridesmaidsGhostbusters and Paul. Wiig also appeared on Saturday Night Live from 2005 through 2012.

Plenty of rumors have been swirling around Wonder Woman 2, including the era in which it’s set. However, few if any details have been confirmed. Director Patty Jenkins said in January that the intention is for the sequel to be “totally different” from its acclaimed predecessor. Starring Gal Gadot in the title role, Wonder Woman 2 arrives in theaters Nov. 1, 2019.
