Captain Marvel showed Wonder Woman some major love on social media. In a move of superhero solidarity, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson retweeted the new trailer for next year's Wonder Woman 1984 with the caption, "SIRI - HOW DO I TIME TRAVEL TO JUNE 5TH 2020." The age-old "competition" between Marvel and DC Comics' properties makes Larson's show of love for the rival company's film notable, especially for fans who love both equally.RELATED: Gal Gadot on Wonder Woman 1984: 'I Forgot It Was Me'

Both Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman were the first female-led films in their respective cinematic universes. Wonder Woman came first in 2017, with a record-breaking box-office and critical acclaim, giving the DC Extended Universe its first universally beloved hit. Captain Marvel released in February this year, to mostly positive reviews and the honor of passing the one billion-dollar mark at the theater -- a first for a female-led superhero film.

Both films, and their successes, mark a changing landscape in superhero films. Marvel will release Black Widow in May, while DC will release the Harley Quinn-centric, all-female team-up Birds of Prey in February. Like Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel will also receive a sequel, though its release date has not yet been revealed.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
