It sounds like two major characters will be back via a flashback in Wonder Woman 1984.

As part of Entertainment Weekly's cover story on the upcoming Wonder Woman sequel, it was revealed that Antiope (Robin Wright) and Hippoylta (Connie Nielsen), Diana's aunt and mother, respectively, will be back. Their return will come during a flashback on Themyscira that EW said involves an "Amazon Olympics."

In the first film, we got a look at the Amazons training on the hidden paradise, but it appears the new visit to their home will feature some more Olympian influence in the form of competitive games. And given the advanced strength and abilities of the Amazons, it should be something to behold.

As is usually the case, the big story has revealed tons of information about the film, alongside some new images from Wonder Woman 1984. Kristin Wiig also teased her turn as the villainous Cheetah - and Barbara Minerva, the unassuming alter-ego of the Wonder Woman foe.
