After a series of delays, Gal Gadot's Diana Prince is finally returning to the DC Extended Universe this Christmas in Wonder Woman 1984. Despite initial plans, though, Wonder Woman 1984 will now simultaneously release in theaters and on HBO Max, which has discontinued its free trial ahead of the movie's release in an effort to bring more subscribers to the service. Still, there are other legal ways to watch Wonder Woman 1984 for "free."

Depending on their wireless, internet and video plans, many AT&T customers already have access to HBO Max for no additional cost. Customers can check and see by visiting their AT&T account online or via the MyAT&T app. For those who do, you can simply download the HBO Max app and sign in with your AT&T or DIRECTV login credentials. This will allow you to stream Wonder Woman 1984 when it debuts on Christmas Day, along with the many other films and TV shows available on HBO Max.

Those who are currently subscribed to HBO through AT&T/DIRECTV also have access to HBO Max included as part of their service and just need to log in using their TV provider credentials on AT&T's website. In fact, most customers who are already subscribed to HBO thanks to their cable or satellite provider will likely have access to HBO Max. Just head to HBO Max's website and click on the option "Sign in through TV or mobile provider" and you should be able to stream Wonder Woman 1984 once it's live.

HBO Max and Hulu have also teamed up to offer a week-long free period when you either sign up for both services or add HBO Max to a previously existing Hulu subscription. Additionally, YouTube TV subscribers who already have access to HBO can similarly sign up for a seven-day trial of HBO Max after logging into their accounts. Finally, HBO Max allows up to five profiles on a single account. That's to say, if you have a friend or relative who's subscribed to the service and hasn't maxed out the number of profiles already, they may be able to lend you their login information to watch Wonder Woman 1984.

Diana's Gold Armor from Wonder Woman 1984

Warner Bros. recently unveiled its plan to release all of its 2021 movies using the same hybrid approach as Wonder Woman 1984, including the MonsterVerse tentpole Godzilla vs. Kong and Wonder Woman 1984's fellow DC Extended Universe sequel The Suicide Squad. It's a move that's meant to not only increase HBO Max's subscriber numbers, but also provide audiences with a way to watch the studio's upcoming films safely at home while they wait for the coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine to be made widely available to the general public. AT&T customers with "free" access to HBO Max should also be able to watch these films on the streamer, once they're available.

Both Wonder Woman 1984 and Warner Bro.'s 2021 movies will initially stream on HBO Max for 31 days, at which point they will continue to play in theaters only. Of course, they will eventually return to the streaming service sometime after becoming available to rent or purchase digitally and on Blu-ray.

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters and HBO Max in the United States on Dec. 25.
