Diana Prince will have her hands more than full when she returns to the big screen in Wonder Woman 1984.
On Twitter, director Patty Jenkins officially welcomed DC villain Maxwell Lord to the cast of the film. Lord, who will be played by The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal, joins Kristen Wiig's Cheetah as the film's antagonist.
Created by Keith Giffen, J. M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire, Max Lord is a rich and powerful businessman who debuted as a friend and ally to the Justice League. However, the character would later be revealed as an evil mastermind, one whose telepathic powers made him a dangerous threat. Although Lord is a Justice League villain, the character has become closely associated with Wonder Woman after the Amazon Princess was left with no choice but to break his neck to stop his mind control over Superman.
Ever since Perdo Pascal was cast in Wonder Woman 1984, there were rumors the actor would play the villainous businessman. The role was stealthily confirmed in the cast list of a recent Warner Bros. press release, and now Jenkins' tweet has cast a spotlight on the confirmation.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
