Kingdom Come was a four-issue miniseries by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. Published in 1996, the story was an Elseworlds look at deconstructionist take on superheroes. In the Kingdom Come universe, there was a tension between "traditional" superheroes and a new band of vigilantes.

Kingdom Come featured a much darker Diana, following her exile from Paradise Island. In that universe, The Amazons believed that Diana's mission to bring peace to the outside world had failed, stripping her of her royal title.

Although Wonder Woman 1984 will not be set in the Kingdom Come universe, her armor is on full display, giving fans of the popular comic series a nice little nod.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
