Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins has a few more stories left to tell about the Amazonian superhero.

When Entertainment Weekly asked what comes next for Wonder Woman as a character, Jenkins replied, "The story continues after this in movies that I may or may not direct, but I have two more stories that become the completion of this story and it’s all about women stepping in as women, in the most loving kind pure and natural way. And making a difference in the world without having to change who they are to do it."

Jenkins has been developing an Amazons spinoff film with Wonder Woman 1984 co-writer Geoff Johns. Amazons will lead right into the events of Wonder Woman 3, according to Jenkins. Wonder Woman 3 was also fast-tracked over the weekend, with Jenkins returning to write and direct and Gal Gadot returning in the title role. Jenkins' upcoming film projects include Cleopatra at Paramount, which also features Gadot in the title role, and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for Lucasfilm.

Wonder Woman 1984 premiered on Dec. 25, debuting simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. The film has enjoyed the biggest opening weekend in theaters since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic began, with a gross of $16.7 million in 21,000 U.S. theaters.

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film is now available in theaters and on HBO Max.
