Wonder Woman 1984 was a recently released film that discloses the second of Diana's adventures in the world of humans. She faces off against Maxwell Lord and Cheetah, a villain who can grant wishes and another who has achieved the power of an apex predator, respectively.

Though it made for an entertaining spectacle at the box office, many fans have questioned its logical coherence. By analyzing the factors of the movie which made no sense, we can determine whether or not it is worthy of the praise it has received, especially as one of the best performing movies of the year.

10 Wonder Woman's Gradual Decline In Power

One of the most relevant themes to the movie was Wonder Woman's slow decline in power. This was the tradeoff she faced for wishing Steve Trevor back to life, as the Dreamstone takes something important from those who use it.

However, unlike other wishes which were granted almost instantly, Diana's curse takes the span of the movie for it to progress. Similarly, Cheetah's power also slowly increases for no clear reason. Realistically, they should have reached the pinnacle of their respective strengths moments after they made their request.

9 No One Wished Maxwell Lorde Dead

At the end of the movie, Maxwell Lord had positioned himself in front of the entire world, granting innumerable wishes to billions of people. However, by this time, he had already wronged many individuals who might harbor a personal grudge (such as the man whose business he stole or the oil baron he conned).

Miraculously, neither of them wished him dead for what he had done. Moreover, there wasn't a single person on the planet who was horrified enough by what they saw to attempt to cut off the problem at its source.

At the end of the movie, the insidious power of the stone was still in effect. A touching speech from Wonder Woman was required in order to "reach out" to the many people who had unwittingly signed on with Lord's plan.

Though this may have reached some individuals that are not beyond reason (such as Cheetah and even Maxwell himself), it's difficult to believe that genuinely malevolent forces would readily relinquish what power they had finally earned for themselves (especially terrorist cells with scarcely anything to offer the stone in the first place).

7 Diana Takes Advantage Of An Innocent Person

Wonder Woman 1984 - Steve Trevor

When Steve Trevor is reborn, it was not in the body Diana was familiar with. He possessed the shell of an innocent person, one the "hero" was more than happy to dress up and copulate with.

This was a bizarrely uncharacteristic action for her to take. Not only was she defying the sanctity of free will for the sake of personal interests, but the subject of her actions would also eventually have their body returned to them since she rescinded her wish. As a result, it's possible that he could have remembered every scarring detail of what they had done together.

6 Neither Cheetah Nor Maxwell Were Arrested

Perhaps the most openly alarming feature of the plot was that neither Cheetah nor Maxwell were arrested at the end of the story. This was despite the fact that the latter had compromised the president, openly conspired with the nation's enemies, and supplied them with a nuclear arsenal by which to destroy the entire world.

Though Lord may have been remorseful for his actions, this was only since his son was in jeopardy. He was apathetic to the widespread suffering incurred across the planet and did not have their wellbeing in mind.

5 Maxwell's Wishing Intelligence

Maxwell's ideal plan was to receive the health, strength, and vitality of those he had struck bargains with in order to circumvent the withering power of the stone. However, if he had requested for a single person wish for his immortality (or even omnipotence), he could have removed any limitations to check his might.

Though this would have probably killed the one he had requested from, his conscience would not have been noticeably burdened through his actions.

4 The President's Secret Service Was Not Alarmed By Maxwell's Offer

President from Wonder Woman 1984

Though Maxwell Lord could have reasonably scheduled an appointment with the president since he wished for one, the exchange between them was magnificently unrealistic. He waltzed into the White House and offered the leader of the United States literally anything - including nuclear warheads.

The president himself may have been under Maxwell's spell (obligated to repay his wish), but the secret service surrounding him should have been immediately suspicious to the charlatan, rather than willing accomplices in his schemes. This is especially true because of his interest in what should've been a top-secret satellite initiative.

3 The God Of Treachery Created A Stone With No Permanent Consequences

The Dreamstone was created by the universe's god of mischief and treachery, Dechalafrea Ero. He did this with malevolent intentions in order to draw out the worst in people and capitalize on their avarice.

With such insidious goal, it's strange that the effects of the deal can be reversed whenever its recipient wishes. It completely removes any stakes from appreciating what one has and cheapens what moral lessons could be derived from the movie.

2 Maxwell Lord Didn't Notice Wonder Woman's Lasso Around His Foot

Near the precipice of his madness, Maxwell Lord granted wishes liberally to anyone who requested them. It accelerated the already dark path the world was going down and made Wonder Woman's intervention a necessity.

To stop him and reverse the damage he had done, she managed to successfully lasso his foot in order to get her message out to those he was attempting to reach. However, this was in spite of the fact that she was directly in front of him, with the lasso's iconic golden glow being impossible for Maxwell to not have noticed.

1 The Crisis Is Never Mentioned Again

Maxwell Lord had brought the world to its knees in record time. Nuclear weapons were almost launched, families were falling apart at the seams, and the stock market had reached unprecedented disaster.

Even if everyone rescinded their wish, it is unusual that such a monumental event would not have been mentioned again in any of the DC cinematic universe's movies to occur in the present. It emphasized the fact that though the course of the plot was intended to affect the entire world,  its ramifications were more insignificant than one could have anticipated.
