In his transition from the 1910s to the 1980s, Wonder Woman 1984's Steve Trevor will need to update his sense of style. As such, the character will get his own shopping montage in the upcoming film, which means actor Chris Pine went through quite a bit of wardrobe before landing on that sharp black track suit.

During a set visit attended by CBR, Pine recalled some of his favorite pieces, most of which were left on the cutting room floor. Asked how many fanny packs he got to wear in the film, Pine replied, "Oh man, I gotta tell you. My costume fitting for this was so much fucking fun. There was a leather American flag fanny pack that I wore, that did not get in. There was a denim fanny pack. Unfortunately, none of them got used. Herrera sunglasses, I mean."

"The solar hat with the fan," Wonder Woman actor Gal Gadot added.

Although Steve doesn't hold onto that American flag fanny pack, it did make an appearance in the latest trailer for the film. The trailer, which was released at the DC FanDome event, included a stinger at the end that saw Steve trying on different outfits. In one take, he emerges wearing a breezy patterned shirt and khaki slacks. As he announced he was ready to go, he shifted his belt, revealing said fanny pack. Another shot showed Pine wearing tight leather pants and an oversized tank top, while he expressed incredulity over the idea of parachute pants.

"There's a sequence in this film which reprises the last film," costume designer Lindy Hemming explained. "What it reprises is the time when in suffrages, Diana popped on lots and lots of different looks, which he couldn't believe because they were from a different century, and not that that exactly is what happens, but we have a time in this where Steve is searching to see what to wear. That’s the best way to put it."

"And obviously, for our humor and our fun, we've made quite a lot of sort of '80s, awful '80s things," she added. "Steve's dressing up a lot... but he doesn't wear any of it. He actually wears this simple Rob Lowe kind of T-shirt jacket, like this over the jacket, and trousers look, which he can sort of go anywhere in."

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 2.
