Wonder Woman 1984 may have been delayed until 2020, but Warner Bros. was able to unveil the first footage from the upcoming sequel at the studio's CinemaCon presentation.
The clip shown to audiences at the industry convention featured Diana walking arm-in-arm with her love interest Steve Trevor, back from his heroic death in World War I, through Washington, D.C., with the various national monuments in the background. Additional footage showed Diana roping up bad guys with her magical lasso in a 1980s mall, as well as the reveal of Kristen Wiig's Cheetah.
"This is a story we are very excited about,” director Patty Jenkins declared in a pre-recorded video presentation. "Diana is now in her full powers.”
With Wonder Woman still standing as one of the most successful films within the DC Extended Universe, anticipation for the upcoming sequel is high, and the cast and crew are undoubtedly determined to top the 2017 film with their followup.
"It makes me want to go harder to do something even more special,” Gal Gadot stated in another pre-recorded clip.
Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
