The long-awaited Wonder Woman 1984 continues to have its theatrical release delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, that has not stopped certain details from leaking through merchandise, which have hit shelves regardless of the status of the film.

Novelizations of the film, such as the childrens' books Wonder Woman 1984: The Junior Novel and Wonder Woman 1984: Meet Wonder Woman (I Can Read Level 3), have revealed the means through which Steve Trevor returns after his demise in the previous film. According to the books, he is brought back thanks to a mysterious Dreamstone. The books also reveal that the stone has the power to grant wishes and was created by the gods, in much the same way as Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth.

The details of the novelizations appear to confirm details that were supposedly leaked early 2020. The leak suggested that Steve Trevor's return will be the result of a wish that Diana makes at a gala held in the Smithsonian, oblivious to the fact that the artifact has the power to grant wishes.

The Dreamstone, also called the Materioptikon was introduced in Justice League of America #19 (written by Gardner Fox, illustrated by Mike Sekowsky and Bernard Sachs). It is depicted as an incredibly powerful gemstone, used as a weapon by Doctor Destiny.

Directed and co-written by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal and Natasha Rothwell. The film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on Oct. 2.
