In Wonder Woman 1984, Diana will don golden armor and a helmet, which proved to be a bit of a challenge for star Gal Gadot.

Inspired by Alex Ross' battle armor for the character during the comic book storyline Kingdom Come, the armor appears during battle sequences. Gadot noted that, while she does some stunts herself, the constrictive nature of the costume posed a challenge during the filming of action scenes.

"I do have two stunt girls working with me because it is very extensive work and it’s extremely physical and it’s like superhero, like we’re doing it for real," Gadot told Collider. "If we have to choose, if it’s something that can be done [for real] or it can be CGI, we’ll go for the real version of it. But I do a lot of it. I get injured."

Filmmaker Patty Jenkins revealed the costume was incredibly uncomfortable to wear, though both Jenkis and Gadot noted it was visibly impressive. With that in mind, Gadot credited her stunt team in helping her perform the demanding action sequences while wearing the golden armor in the film.

"In the incredibly uncomfortable costumes. Like, the golden armor was not super comfy," Jenkins said, with Gadot adding, "No, no. It’s not, but I know it looks great, [and] when I see it I’m happy."

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord and Natasha Rothwell. The film opens on June 5, 2020.
