As of this writing, Wonder Woman 1984 is still slated for release in June. While we can speculate whether or not that will remain the case, a much more fun speculation is guessing which characters from the DC Universe could make an appearance in the upcoming DCEU blockbuster.

Who will we see? Will it be returning fan favorites from previous movies? Or will it be new characters to the DCEU, either popping up as a fun easter egg or to set up something down the road? Let's take a look and see who potentially could make a cameo in the upcoming Wonder Woman movie as well as who probably won't be showing up.

10 COULD SEE: Ted Kord

With Max Lord confirmed for the movie, an appearance from Ted Kord, AKA the second Blue Beetle, is a possibility. Lord and Kord have a long and rich history together, from their time together in the Justice League to Kord discovering Max Lord's villainous nature and paying the ultimate price for that discovery.

KORD Industries has been a part of both Smallville and the Arrowverse and Wonder Woman 1984 would be the perfect time to introduce Kord and his company to the DCEU as a friendly rival to Max Lord. Plus, if they wanted to plant seeds for a future Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle project, they could either mention or show the Blue Beetle scarab for Jaime to find in the future.

9 WON'T SEE: Doctor Fate

Doctor Fate is essentially the DC equivalent of Doctor Strange. In her previous DCEU appearances, there have been various magical elements to Wonder Woman and if this film wanted to expand on those, Doctor Fate would be a great route to take to do so.

A Doctor Fate appearance was rumored for a time but is unlikely at this point. When Pedro Pascal was cast in Wonder Woman 1984, there was speculation he would be playing Doctor Fate, but with him confirmed as Max Lord, it's doubtful Doctor Fate will be appearing.

8 COULD SEE: John Constantine

If the DCEU does want to introduce more magic into its universe while also laying the groundwork for a future project, John Constantine could be the way to go.

Rumors of a Justice League Dark project have been swirling to the point that it seems likely to happen eventually. Seeing the popular Constantine in Wonder Woman 1984 could help accelerate that project if the appearance goes well. There's even some foundation for a Constantine appearance in the comics, as Wonder Woman is currently a member of Justice League Dark.

7 WON'T SEE: Darkseid

One of the most anticipated DCEU appearances is that of Darkseid, arguably the greatest villain of the DC Universe. With Darkseid being cut from the Justice League movie, fans will have to wait for either the Snyder cut of Justice League or the New Gods movie...unless he cameos in Wonder Woman 1984.

Unfortunately, that isn't likely to happen. With the movie's 1984 setting, it makes no sense for Darkseid to appear in the movie and then wait thirty plus years to send Steppenwolf to attack.

6 COULD SEE: Amanda Waller

Amanda Waller has already appeared in Suicide Squad and is set to return in The Suicide Squad. While Suicide Squad did expand the DCEU, Amanda Waller cameoing in Wonder Woman 2 could help lay even more groundwork.

Perhaps a young Amanda Waller encounters Wonder Woman in 1984 and this serves as her gateway into the metahuman phenomena. Not unlike notables such as Lex Luthor and even Batman, encountering Wonder Woman at an earlier stage in her life may cause her to start asking "what if a metahuman were to turn against the Earth? Who would stop them?"

5 WON'T SEE: Deathstroke

Deathstroke - AKA Slade Wilson - has already cameoed in a DCEU movie when he appeared in a mid-credits scene during Justice League. With the 1984 setting for Wonder Woman 1984, it's not inconceivable we see a younger Slade Wilson make an appearance here.

With future Justice League plans scrapped and no current plans for him to be used in upcoming projects, it's highly unlikely for Deathstroke to make a cameo in Wonder Woman 1984.

4 COULD SEE: Green Lantern

The Green Lantern Corps was established in Justice League and a Green Lantern was intended to be seen in sequels but those plans never came to pass. A Green Lantern project is still in the works for the DCEU and a cameo in Wonder Woman 1984 would be a good way to keep anticipation high for it to happen.

Since the movie is set in the '80s, there are several different ways a cameo could go down. Maybe establish Hal Stewart as the Green Lantern of the DCEU past to set up John Stewart for the DCEU future? Or if they want Hal to be their Green Lantern, maybe Abin Sur makes an appearance. He could even put over Wonder Woman, seeing Wonder Woman in action while on patrol and noting that his presence is not currently needed on Earth.

3 WON'T SEE: The Flash

Ezra Miller as The Flash in the DCEU

Ezra Miller's Flash is the king of the cameo, first appearing in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and then appearing on the Arrowverse's Flash during the Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover. Thanks to Flash's ability to time travel, it's a definite possibility he could pop in for a cameo in Wonder Woman 1984.

He most likely will not appear though because of what the previous movies established. When Flash and Wonder Woman met in Justice League, they were meeting for the first time. If Flash time travels back to 1984 to meet Wonder Woman in this movie at least one of them should have remembered that in Justice League. Since neither did, a Flash cameo is very doubtful.

2 COULD SEE: Black Adam

The Black Adam film is coming to theaters in 2021, While everyone knows who Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is, not everyone knows who Black Adam is. A cameo in Wonder Woman 1984 would make everyone just as excited to see Black Adam in a movie as they are that he's being played by Dwayne Johnson.

Maybe when Steve Trevor surfaces for the first time in decades it's in the nation of Kahndaq. Wonder Woman would instantly drop everything and rush to Kahndaq to find Trevor. Kahndaq's protector Black Adam wouldn't take kindly to an outsider invading his country. Wonder Woman wouldn't be in the mood to let anyone stop him. Cue superhero trope 101 of misunderstanding leading to epic brawl. And make no mistake, this brawl would be EPIC. The fight would be brief but legendary and everyone would be extra hyped for the Black Adam movie.

1 WON'T SEE: The Joker

Yes, it's highly unlikely The Joker is going to appear in a Wonder Woman movie - until you start thinking about it. The recent Joker movie was set in 1981, just three years before Wonder Woman 1984. If DCEU wanted to connect all of their properties, Arthur Fleck could potentially watch Wonder Woman in action on television and want to get on her radar. Or, with the Batman: Three Jokers comic set for release in June, the DCEU may want to establish their own three Jokers. After all, we've already seen two.

Though the case can be made for a Joker cameo, the fact of the matter is it's highly unlikely. He just doesn't fit in with everything we know about this movie and would feel completely out of place.
