Wolverine Writer Monkeying Around With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Now that Matt Reeves (Cloverfield Let Me In) is firmly entrenched as the director of Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the studio is apparently tailoring the script to him. The original screenplay was penned by Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa, but according to The Hollywood Reporter Mark Bomback is taking a crack at the story.

Bomback has written a range of movies, from Live Free or Die Hard and Race to Witch Mountain to The Wolverine and Unstoppable. While there haven't been any news about returning human characters, Fox has also announced that Andy Serkis, who played lead ape Caesar, will return to play the same character in the sequel.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is set for a May 23, 2014 release date.
