WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Heroes Reborn: Weapon X & Final Flight #1 by Ed Brisson, Roland Boschi, Chris O'Halloran and VC's Cory Petit, on sale now.

Heroes Reborn has seen nearly every corner of the Marvel Universe transformed in eerie, unsettling ways thanks to the machinations of Mephisto. With the removal of the Avengers from this Earth's timeline comes a catastrophic string of events that left the Squadron Supreme as Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Now it looks like those tragedies are catching up to one of Marvel's most classic super teams, Alpha Flight, and Wolverine, who never left it in this world.

And in the Heroes Reborn timeline, the Squadron Supreme condemns Logan to a fate worse than death.

Wolverine Hyperion fight

Within this alternate timeline, it's been years since the Alpha Flight and the Squadron Supreme of America crossed paths, battling for the freedom of Canada following its invasion by this reality's version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Back then, Shaman enchanted Logan's blades with magic that made his them slice through Hyperion's neck, and the Squadron has never forgotten the sting of that day. Recently, the Squadron Supreme and the soldiers supporting them have been rooting out Alpha Flight sympathizers to be put to death, drawing the team into a deadly trap. To make matters worse, Alpha Flight's Sasquatch betrays the team and keeps Shaman from giving Logan the kind of support he needs, meaning that he doesn't stand a chance against the Superman-esque powerhouse

Wolverine has suffered plenty of brutal defeats in his time, but few have been as bloody as the beating unleashed on him by a vengeful Hyperion. Hyperion's teammate,  Doctor Spectrum asks him if he has fulfilled his revenge fantasy once the dust is settled, ensuring that the severity of that grudge is lost on no one. Just like his counterpart in the primary Marvel Universe, the Wolverine of Heroes Reborn is effectively immortal thanks to his healing factor, leaving Hyperion's assault painful but ultimately futile.  Of course, the Squadron Supreme is nothing if not resourceful, and they had already planned well in advance for how to handle their impossibly resilient enemy by living him to suffer eternally on a distant world.

Heroes Reborn Wolverine Planet

Before he knows what has happened, Logan is whisked away into the cosmos by Doctor Spectrum and left on the barren surface of a dead planet in the farthest corner of space. Without any life, water or oxygen, there is nothing for Logan to do but wither away for all of eternity, continuously suffocating as his healing factor sustains him.

Logan's fate in Mephisto's reality might very well be the worst that he has ever suffered, even when stacked up against the other grueling ends that he has met over the years. But with the finale of Heroes Reborn is fast approaching, Logan won't have to endure this particular fate for too much longer.
