Marvel has released Ron Garney's variant cover for Wolverine: Black White & Blood #1.

Garney's cover features Wolverine's claws ripping through a black foreground, while the X-Man snarls in the background. Blood drips from his claws and the slash marks in the cover, living up to the series' title. Garney has previously worked on X-Men related books including Wolverine: Weapon X with Jason Aaron and the upcoming Juggernaut miniseries with Fabian Nicieza.

Wolverine: Black White & Blood will focus on several untold tales from Wolverine's life, including his Weapon X days and his time with the X-Men. The series' artwork will be presented in black-and-white format with a generous splash of blood red. Writers on the title include Venom scribe Donny Cates and X-Men veteran Chris Claremont, while several all-star artists including Adam Kubert and Declan Shalvey will bring Logan's bloody conflicts to life.

"I can't stress how exciting it is getting all of these pages from the absolutely killer level of talent assembled for this book," series editor Mark Basso said. "It's become a hype cliché, but you've really never seen anything quite like this from Marvel Comics."

Wolverine: Black White and Blood #1, by Gerry Duggan, Declan Shalvey, Matthew Rosenberg, Adam Kubert, Joshua Cassara and more, goes on sale Nov. 4 from Marvel.
