WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Wolverine #15, now on sale from Marvel.

First appearing in Wolverine #40 by Daniel Way and Javier Saltares, the Muramasa Blade is one of the most dangerous swords in the Marvel Universe. Capable of bringing down even the toughest and most resilient of warriors, a Muramasa Blades in the wrong hands could turn into a big problem for the mutant nation -- especially Wolverine, who has a deep connection with the weapon.

That's what makes his deal with the Arakko Pirate Sevyr Blackmore so enticing in Wolverine #15 by Benjamin Percy, Adam Kubert, Frank Martin & VC's Cory Petit, as it could end with Logan claiming the Muramasa Blade that previously belonged to Solem. But things are already getting complicated, thanks to Solem's trickery.

Solem was introduced during X of Swords as one of the Swordbearers of Arakko. Gifted with skin like adamantium (and therefore impervious to injury), he quickly earned his place as that nation's counter to Wolverine. At the end of the event, Solem was one of the most potentially dangerous loose threads left unresolved after escaping to Earth and disappearing with one of the Muramasa Blades forged in Hell itself. Wolverine #15 delves further into his origins and where he's been since escaping Arakko largely through the stories of Sevyr Blackmore, a deadly Arakko pirate lord with acidic blood and massive muscles.

Wolverine is en route to confront Solem again, especially after Blackmore reveals that Solem was seemingly the one responsible for stealing the Marauder and the Logic Diamonds hidden on board during the Hellfire Gala. However, it appears that during his last confrontation with Blackmoor, Solem was forced to leave his own Muramasa Blade behind while he escaped. Now in his possession, Blackmoore promises Wolverine that he could destroy the blade (and the soul within) with his acidic blood, and only agrees to give it over to Wolverine in exchange for capturing Solem for the pirate lord -- a deal Wolverine seems to accept. But Logan is troubled by the fact that Solem would so readily give up the blade even to escape his long-time enemy Blackmoor.

Returning to the Summer House on the Blue Area of the Moon, Wolverine retreats to his quarters and inspects his own Muramasa Blade -- and his suspicions are confirmed when he discovers that his own has been stolen and replaced with a fake. Solem was content with leaving such a powerful and rare blade behind because he already had Wolverine's. Wolverine has seemingly dedicated himself to hunting down Solem and the blade, with the promise of another waiting upon his success. If Logan could claim both Muramasa Blades, it would be a worthy addition to the tools Krakoa has on hand for emergencies and provide Logan and his family the security in knowing a weapon almost specifically designed to counter their abilities is accounted for.

But things might not be that simple, as Logan is convinced there's a spy on Krakoa who has been working with Solem and helped him reach Wolverine's home -- along with the fact that Solem now has a weapon that can kill Wolverine. Wolverine will have to fight Solem on multiple fronts if he wants any hope of defeating him and taking back his own Muramasa Blade. But in doing so, he could end up with two in his possession.
